I am really very annoyed about the procedure of 16.09.07! In order to be exact, there was no procedure.

Such a thing may not occur. Even if the web page is off-line. There are many possibilities the members to inform. But it may NEVER occur not to inform the members. This situation is not portable. Who is responsible for it?

These circumstances must be eliminated NOW IMMEDIATELY and it must a way be found thereby that not again happened.

It does not concern which with the technology happened, it is a matter of which the members were alone left!

Does anyone one know why it took so long?

It's partly your fault. Your destructive posts about the people who are trying to rebuld the XOOPS project result in a lack of motivation among people who might otherwise want to help.

wow, wouldn't have expected that from you dave, given that we all were fully motivated enough to spend the best part of a year arranging, organising and working on the new XOOPS websites etc, only for all the work to be thrown back in our faces and totally wasted (well not toally wasted now tho). that was certainly unmotivating for us for sure. did you really expect us to keep quiet? would you have kept quiet if a years worth of work by you had been thrown back at you and made a total waste of time? i think not.

pmsl

Was that directed at me?

I'm sorry but if people #OOPS# on me from a great height, I'm not exactly gonna be nice about it am I.

Remember I was one of the people trying to build and rebuild XOOPS, until I was treated like crap, then ignored, and abused.

Now I've never done anything untoward yourself have I, or any of the other helpers, developers, council members, etc, etc?

Only towards the one that treated me like crap, still ain't seen that public apology.

Kind Regards
KARMA

Chill out, guys...... stuff happens and this isn't the first website to be down for a while as a result of hardward problems.

The gist of René's first post was to the effect that there was no information as to what had happened rather than the fact that it did and that it took a while to sort.

Rather than have a spat about it (amongst the usual suspects ), how about some suggestions as to what could be done to keep the users informed should this happen again.

As I see it, it needs three things:

1. Someone in the know pass on the info
2. Someone, or a team from on here, to receive the info
3. That infomation to be posted somewhere else than isn't offline

Clearly, given what happened to this site, that info couldn't be posted here. So, where could it have been posted and by whom?

Constructive comments would be appreciated

XOOPSforge.com
Any one of the local support sites
Any one of the several XOOPS related sites. (XOOPS-magazine, XOOPSFactory, XOOPS-Tips, independent module developers, etc.)

Good suggestions, but a big job to post to all of them.

Is any one of the above list the most "logical" choice were there to be a single nominated posting point?

Or is just one posting-point a little idealistic?

Reported in at least 2 places -

XOOPS.ORG is Down (New)

I assume we know about this, though, maybe? I don't know whom to contact nor whom is in charge. There is some discussion in Xi, but nothing says anyone knowledgeable has been contacted. I'm hoping this message gets to some of the right people via e-mail.

Not sure if anyone here is still involved or not, but xoops.org seems to be down all day, at least from Thailand.

If this is not worth reporting here please feel free to delete, I don't see anyone on MSN today.

From the August council report -
Quote:

Technical group

The Technical group has invited two server administrators, jdseymour and Mr Xiao LI. Both are excellent additions to the Technical group, and are handling the migration of XOOPS.org and dev.XOOPS.org to the new servers.

Do we have contact information for these 2 available outside of the XOOPS.org site? Even a serverteam@xoops.org or technicalgroup@xoops.org would work.
