I meant as the part of what a core team members does, maintaining the framework becomes a part of it. So sure members from core team may change but there will never be a situation as long as the project continues that there is no member on the core team.

Of course, the best would be if both Core team and Module Development Team would work together on such Framework

Completely agree with you on this. So as i see it the framework can be maintained by the core team and the recommendations for things that can improve the framework comes from the module developers. Then the module developer can work with the core team to update the framework

Mamba has a point about how do you update the framework if it is a part of core, you cant have a core update for evey small update to framework. At the same time catz has a point that if it is not maintained by the core team then it will become like any other module that gets left-out after sometime.

Just thinking out loud, So having a modular framework which is maintained by core team may resolve both these issues.

@Mamba
You are trying to defend DJ maybe bcoz you know something that we dont but You still continue to fail to understand the problems of xoops community as a whole and by trying to keep one developer safe you are pushing away a lot of other developers

Can we pls keep this thread specific to the work being done on the "Universal" module framework and continue the other discussions about right and wrongs in xoops maybe in the old thread or somewhere else, so that people working on this framework can use this thread for discussions that can help them in developing this framework.

I am posting certain things that I will like to in the above mentioned thread.

Regards,
Nitin

Thanks Ghia, i had made the same hack compatible for xoops 2.4 RC but stopped working post 2.4 final. And I had done exactly as you mentioned.

I need to know is there a way to incorporate these hacks in a way where updating these hacks with xoops core update becomes easier.
As updating the same hack after every xoops core update will be difficult. It also acts as a demotivating factor for people to update to the latest version of xoops if the hack is really important for the site and is working with a previous core version.

In a couple of weeks I should have some free time during which I will try to make certain old hacks that made xoops better compatible with the current version of xoops.

So If I can have a list of and links to these hacks that most people will like to have updated for xoops 2.4.5.

Also my knowledge in php is to say the least limited but will try to compare the files of the older xoops with the current xoops with the hacked version.

Also if someone can help me understand how updating these hacks for future versions of xoops can be made easier...

Yes, I did. Html tags are working perfectly on the individual article pagebut not in the summary that is displayed in the module and category index pages.

On the index page of the publisher module and on categories pages we can display the list of latest articles with a summary.
The summary gets stripped of all html tags.
Is there a way to enable the html tags in summary as well?
