To DavidL -

Could you expand on your last comment? I am using that autologin hack with 2.0.15. Thanks.

To Tognaco -

Preferences Main - General Settings:

- Use custom session - YES

- Session expiration - change from 15 to e.g. 60

Hope that helps.

But I have been using 2.2.3 for sometime with no problem. It just started out of the blue. Do you mean the only solution is to downgrade?

I'm not an expert by any means. I spent ages fixing little problems in my 2.2.3 installation - which made me reluctant to upgrade to 2.2.4 in case I introduced more and undid my fixes.

Problems with user registration and post count (and join date) were fairly common on this forum the last few months. It's a problem I had but got no solution to. My problem sounds a bit different to yours though. To be fair, if there aren't that many users it's easy to change with sql.

2.0.15 is more of an upgrade than a downgrade... When we installed 2.2.3 we thought the higher number meant better, but apparently not

Smartsection - location of images directory

The server has php safe mode on. This means that I cannot upload images via the browser. However, if I know where they were meant to go then perhaps they would be recognised - if the directory (rather than the database) is the important factor.

So - does anyone know where they images are stored?

Thanks

1. Do a search and you'll find many many posts about this, but probably no answer.

2. In the admin site if you muck something up, when it goes back to the input screen, no user group is selected at all (you have to choose it manually). Perhaps on the user side the same thing happens. This is from memory as I'm on 2.0.15 now!

The server I use has PHP SAFE MODE on (because a XOOPS module let a hacket take over the server before!) Stops you uploading files via the browser though, but I can work round that one.

I've used a multimenu option that only webmasters can see which links tohttp://www.X.co.uk/modules/newbb/admin/admin_report.php

I know it's not what you asked for though....

No. At least I don't think so. I have the same thing and assume it's a security feature, to make it harder to guess it if someone saw the **********'s.

Any ideas? This is pretty fundamental. Could it be the server at fault?
