NewBB message report notification

I've recently installed the Newbb 2.0.2 module in a XOOPS 2.0.13 environment. I like it, though there's something I can't understand.

When the 'report' button is pressed about a message on the forum, it works well, in that the message appears for processing on the administration control panel.

What I really want is for that activity to send me the notification by email so I can log in and deal with it, rather than having to check the admin panel all the time. It does it with new posts in the forum - why not this?

Am I missing something?

Two important points:

1 - Newbb has been replaced by CBB. The release you are using there is rather old, as CBB is currently on version 3.05

2 - The XOOPS version you are using has been updated about 4-5 times since this release. It would be advisable to update as several security issues have been released since this time.

I would personally suggest doing a full backup of site and database as you have at the moment, and checking on this site (and also dev.xoops.org) for the latest releases of your used modules (search is very handy for this!) and looking towards an update.

Please note - this is purely a personal suggestion.

Thanks for all that input.

The version we're using was the one which was triggere by the ensim control panel of our hosting service and being very new to the whole XOOPS package (though very taken with it!), the idea of a complete upgrade is a bit daunting... but we'll give it a try... I think!

Whoops. I misread something. The environment is 2.05.

I tried CBB 3.05 earlier but ended up with whitespace instead of the admin area - though I think I shall try THAT again instead!

How embarrassed am I, not knowing which version I was running...

Best thing to do is to take it all a careful step at a time.

I'd suggest a backup, as I said before, and perhaps using a copy of the backup on your local system (using an "Apache emulator" type system like XAMP or others... (www.apachefriends.org I think?) and trying to update this first...

it's certainly easier to try this before the real update

Thank you - good thoughts.

I've just taken a complete site backup and a backup of the SQL too, and as the site isn't live yet, I think I'll take a crack at replacing the forum as it contains no significant material as yet.

I appreciate your help!

Please test it on your local machine though (and yes, backing up the database is a very good idea indeed )

I'm pleased that the upgrades all went very well - but I still have the same problem, unfortunately.

Hopefully.. one day..

I've used a multimenu option that only webmasters can see which links tohttp://www.X.co.uk/modules/newbb/admin/admin_report.php

I know it's not what you asked for though....
