I'm looking for a module that allows me to create smarty expressions which are valid on my complete XOOPS site. It should manage these smartys and smartys should be editable there.
a smarty may be: a text string, srcipt, or small php
smartys should be ready to use in blocks, themes and tempaltefiles
any ideas?

starting xoopsfactory, It was my first goal to introduce XOOPS sites (and their webmaster) and examples of XOOPS usage. Looking into my stats there are some who look for XOOPS example sites and links around this cms. There are some hits on keywords "xoops" "xoops sites" and "xoops examples". Did you search for this keys? First starting within article section i merged this area into my blog which seems to be very interesting for searchengines.
Introductions of xoops, experiences of webmasters made with XOOPS seems to be interesting to others, and of course an inspiration as it is for me.
Starting XOOPS site of the month in august 2005 there was near the same goal, show XOOPS examples and usage.
xoopsfactory is not a secret tip to free advertise a XOOPS site and XOOPS site news, but an introduction of a XOOPS site in my blog should not be that bad.
Anyway, I'm open for ideas such as yours, and tips to get them work, for i'm no coder but speaking html

btw. it is not intended to sell these themes, they should be opensource and free for the community. It is not that much work for me to put some ideas into running xoops, for i'm doing nothing different for the past 4 years with my own ideas and inspirations.
I do see that many people want more grahic and visual themes, but i'm only a coder having html in mind not an artist of graphics. I can produce basic examples wich can be used but not that visual things.
I will sure learn on this and get further inspiration, but as said, it is not intended to sell these themes. Artists will get full credits and backlinks (footer or source).

Yes, this is an effort driven by some out of the community to get more visual appealing themes for the XOOPS communtiy. Why should we contact xoopsdesign.com (to name only one) if we can do this.
As far as I know they have nice themes for XOOPS and XOOPS forks and that is ok, as there are more, who do exactly the same. Did I have to ask anyone who is selling themes if it is ok to create a theme for xoops?
Please enlight my head on this, perhaps i'm missing something?

as far as i have understood the new version, there will be no more direct modultemplates, at least not in the database. Perhaps we can think and speak about a possible handler to merge the modul-output much easier into themes or get a basic structure but i think skalpa has a solution for this?

When you are an artist, we NEED YOU (and your ideas and screens, logo, header, mascotts to make XOOPS themes with more visual effects). We can deal with psd and png(fireworks) and some other. You can contact us via pm until further news are published.
