Check mainfile to see if you have the correct urls.

make sure mainfile.php is chmod(0777)

And check also permissions for the dirs
uploads/, xoops_data/ ,xoops_data/caches/, xoops_data/caches/xoops_cache/, xoops_data/caches/smarty_cache/og xoops_data/caches/smarty_compile/ (chmod 0777)

check folder structure so that you'll find xoops_version in www.yoursite.com/hustings/xoops_version.php

run install again. If still error, check to see if any tables are found in your database, or if anything has already been written to your mainfile.php

- Try again to edit you mainfile.php with your curret url
- Empty all cache folders (except index.html files)
- in admin update system module
- clear browser cache.

Why not make this person(s) part of moderators in system/groups.

As I understand you have marked the persons in the modules as moderators, but the module probably is checking if this person is member of group/moderator

Admin is superior to all other groups, unless you for some strange reason give admin less rights than normal users :)

In xoops_users check to see what number is written in level for your user.

I believe the status is like this.
0 = disabled
1 = registred user

and 5 is system admin, with admin rights

If not 5 try to set this to 5 and see if this gives you permission.

I found this old thread about magazine1.2

It is no longer supported and does not support php5/mysql5 so this could easily be the reason.

(remember make db backup before this)

If you want to remove and cant make uninstall work, then you have to do it manually from phpmyadmin by deleting the tables defined in the magazine1.2/sql file

CREATE TABLE `mag_article`


All these files yourprefix_tablefromsql you need to delete in phpmyadmin

Next you need to delete entries from this module in templates tables. There are 3 of these. And from these you need to delete all items releated to the module you want to delete.

# xoops_tplfile
# xoops_tplset
# xoops_tplsource

Last search through the xoops_modules table in phpmyadmin and find/delete the module.

After this it should be removed :)

Do you also get this error when your logged in as admin ? Maybe its a permission problem ?

I think that would require some hacking. Why not just show top posters from for instance newbb, newbbex, etc :)

can you rememeber if your user is also member of any other group in your site ?

If you are for instance also member of the registered user group with your admin userid that could maybe cause this problem
