Who has the key to delete posts? or topics on that matter... here on xoops.org...

is it right for a theme designer to have the right to delete a post if not a topic to save face?

Granted this designer has helped alot, but what they have done does not doesnt give them rights to do what a moderator could do.

Why do i post this?
I good friend of mine and many others, has been done wrong buy a fellow xoopster....
they said one thing and then once you agreed to it, it changed and became something else...

And I would like insight on this...

Ive sat quietly. and done my own thing, but im tired of this

the XOOPS based site has much explaining to do.

Oh and delete this if you wish, but it will be posted again, and again, and yet again till the wrong has been fixed.

Marc.

I answer this here since there is no need to run multiple threads on the same topic:

Marc,

we have had this dilemma in the past. I say we as in "we the old moderator team" and to be honest the current moderators are doing the right thing.

Please read, think and than be angry with me

I personally do respect as much one side as i do respect the other. I have no quirrels with Billy, you or the the third person. But the point is ... to protect x.o from legal action this will not be seen here most likely in the way it was originally posted.

I can only advise you to take legal advice(since you say you have a contract), fight it out in court, bring back the bullethole-proof result and post it then again. Same advise has been given in the past in one or two other cases.
(although i am not sure how much was done to resolve this peacefull which should be the prefered way of course ... so maybe give it another shot?)

Please understand: Its not about not trusting or not believing - its about opening up the site to legal action or not.

Just my 0.02 cents.

Hi everyone,

Please accept my resignation from the Core team. I can no longer be a part of
this team. From now on I will focus my energy on The SmartFactory and other
projects.

I wish this Core team the very best of luck in bringing XOOPS core to the place
it should be.

Best regards,
Marcan

Without a lot of work you can´t run the same forum module. However running a different forum than the first might be an option. E.g. 1 x newbb/cbb and 1 x newbbex might be an option.
At least from a very quick look it seems to be enough modified. (hervet would be able to confirm or deny this)

However ... why can´t you update the other one?

1. Get yourself Xampp and install it locally.
a) choose a version that resembles your current setup (php version/mysql version) as close as possible
2. Make a backup of your websites files and database content and get it running locally under Xampp
3. Grab XOOPS 2.0 to make the change from v1 to v2
4. Grab XOOPS 2.0.7 repectively the update package because thats the next version coming with database modifications
5. Grab XOOPS 2.0.17 Full to get to the current version
6. Update the forum to cbb 3.x (which is the successor of newbb which is currently in your main menu so i guess you use that - did not register and have no access)
7. Update news module along the way. Its these days maintained by hervet/Instant Zero.
8. Check the rest of your modules for updates
9. Either upload the new database and files to your host or redo the procedure there

You can find a bunch of old XOOPS releases right over at sourceforge: sf.net XOOPS downloads

Whatever you do ... make backups first. If you have backups make sure they are working before messing around with anything.

WFchannel is a great module if you need a simple effective in between 'article' module.
It fills at least my needs without the need to install a huge module for just a couple of information articles.

Yeah - being simple and easy - thats very much the original definition.

For everything else there was WF-Sections in those days. I would not dare to imagine where that module would be today if it had gotten the love that went into other projects in the last 2 years ...

hey seolio,

- did you try different browsers?
- did you delete cookies/cachefiles?
- does it happen for all users or only your user?
(if so for a quick fix you could register a new one and make him admin via phpmyadmin so you can login and fix the original issue later when you have time?
- could it be something about using the "www." prefix or not? (check this thread)

Good luck ...

1) yes you should place one in every folder thats accessible from the web in any way

2) You don´t need to have phpmyadmin accessible from your Websites domain. Just create a subdomain like [obscure name].yourwebsite.com which you will point to a different rootfolder on you webspace. Install and use it from there since it does only access the database there is no need to have it under your websites subdomain (www).
