BTW- the size of the monitor has no relevance whatsoever.

all that matters here is the resolution that the system is running under.

Well designed sites should be able to be viewed effectively even at 800x600 without scrolling sideways.

well, its not easy to do, depnding on your content. I looked at the site in your profile, and your content is fine... nothing forcing the theme to wide, content-wise.

After looking at your style shhet for

I suggect reducing the width here:

#obLayout {

width1050px;

margin0px auto;

padding0px;

text-alignleft;

background-color#FFFFFF;
}

You need to first try to reduce the Width to below 1050px

This is obviously wider than a 1024 wide screen can hold, for the results you want.

You also need to make sure your theme gets updated in the db, before you will see any changes from simply editing the style.css file.

Hope that helps...

The latest version of XFGuestBook is 2.30 RC1:
Which can be downloaded here.

The author mentions it works with the 2.2 series of XOOPS.

http://thecat.ouvaton.org/modules/mydownloads/

You should upgrade your XFGuestBook to fix that problem.

Remember there are 250+ modules written for XOOPS.
Some need to be updated to work better with 2.2+

Mithrandir did not write all of them :)
The Cat is the author of the XFGuestBook XOOPS module.

Mith is a super hero, although, sometimes he needs to take a break like the rest of us mortals.

I hope that helps you out.

It only shows 5 digits if the hits are only 5 digits long.
Its actually a smart counter, meaning it doesnt show 0's in the front if it doesnt need to.

You are probably comparing it to another counter that does show leading 0's.

I beleive they are setting news as the default module and building off that... but then the trick...

They are using mod_rewrite to make the URLs look better and to have the news index on front page.

Your hosting service would need to support mod_rewrite, to get this to work. You would also need to learn mod_rewrite or get a regular expressions guru to help.

Nothing is 100% secure.

You want it to stay more secure?

Make sure you install patches as soon as they come out.

Just like ANY internet scripts.

Also, not sure why security is so ultra important... sounds like you are running a hobby site.

Will you be keeping secret CIA documents on this server as well?

One word of advise, dont let your friends make you so paranoid. Did they offer any better solutions?

Here is Google's cache on that tutorial.

Not sure how much longer it will be available.

So you may want to archive it

(Sorry about the long URL... LINK didnt link this right... i tried...just copy the link out)

Has this person recently installed Norton or Zone alarm, or a similar software firewall?

If so, then this might be usefull info:

FAQ:Why am I having problems logging in and posting when my firewall is on?

Hope that helps,
