Oh no.. it's even worse.. it wont let me open new threads saying "cannot insert post" and also wont let me reply giving me this error above the window:

"NewbbTopicHandler::getAllPosts error:SELECT p.*, t.* FROM xoops_bb_posts p, xoops_bb_posts_text t WHERE p.topic_id=83 AND p.post_id = t.post_id AND p.approved = 1 ORDER BY p.post_id ASC"

And there are 6 members onboard, i bet they're trying to post.. please..can we get this solved quickly.. I don't recall the last time i had 6 members onboard on libervis (a new site). I don't want to leave this bad impression.

Thank you very much
Daniel

I must say that i hate these "out of clean space" problems, but here we go:

When i logged on to my site today i noticed that there are no blocks displayed in the left column (it displays empty) of all modules except weblog, news and smartfaq module which has dissappeared completely.

I ran an MySQL database check which found some "unclosed tables" errors which were fixed with no problems except this one:

error    13 when fixing table
error
Can't copy datafile-header to tempfile, error 9
status   : Operation failed

But maybe even more important is the red part of MySQL debug output for the troubled modules:

SELECT b.* FROM xoops_newblocks bxoops_block_module_link m WHERE m.block_id=b.bid AND b.isactive=AND b.visible=AND m.module_id IN (0,38) AND b.bid IN (8,7,27,3,2,1,11,42,10,145,31,50,30,41,59,71,49,48,47,6,46,36,128,130,29,146,28,178,25,24,122,4,16,15,70,154,9,43,151,124,126,125,23,22,21,12,5,162,133,138,136,18,135,82,88,134,132,19,20,17,129,156,155,153,152,127,62,123,131,137,188,187,186,185,184,183,182,181,180,157,179,175,174,173,172,171,170,169,167,166,165,164,163,161,160,159,158,168,176,190,191,192ORDER BY b.weight,b.bid
Error number
1
Error message
Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_f5b_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13)

Yesterday i tried to changed my password in cpanel which obviously affected the MySQL password as well. I tried to edit the mainfile.php to put the new password in, but it never let me save the change. It instead named the file mainfile.part.php. I finally decided to switch everything back to the old password and renamed mainfile.part.php back to mainfile.php and everything worked again. I am not sure if there might be a conenction between that and this today.

Just to note, i checked the blocks adim preferences and they are the same except that in these modules it also shows none of the blocks even though the options for them are set to be displayed in those mods.

It is a very bad situation as these days are the most active days in the history of my site (most new registrations, members, posts, traffic...everything). I can't afford for such disfunctionalities.

So, please, anyone who might know anything that may help or solve this situation, respond.

I appreciate it.

Thank you
Daniel

I just did submit it to feature tracker.

I don't think my head depends on this, but i do think that this has some significance.

In IPB and PHPBB when there is a subforum in a forum, it's displayed in forums index only in form of a small letter subforum name which looks neat. In newbb it looks like a whole new forum, only indented which disrupts the nice organizational look of forum index.

In my submission to the tracker i proposed the abilty to turn that off or to make it like in IPB and PHPBB as an alternative.

Anyhow.. before and if this feature get's implemnted, how would i go about doing it myself? Is it possible? If yes, which file to edit and how?

Thanks
Daniel

Hello

I don't like the way that subforums are displayed in forums index in NEWBB2. It looks just like an ordinary forum, but only indented a bit.

So, i am wondering if i could turn it off somehow so that the subforum is visible only inside it's parent forum, not in index.

Thank you
Daniel

I also thought about somehow copying that functionality from news module to weblog, but i don't even know where to begin

I wonder if that newbb image upload hack could be any easier to do?

For that xBlog project it surely sounds promising and if the official XOOPS team is backing it up i'd say that something like that has a future. However, there is not one file released yet and who knows when would it be fit to replace weblog.
It seems we really don't have much of a good choice. We either continue using weblog as it is hoping to find a way to implement some hacks for needed functionalities waiting for xBlog or dump it and start using some sofisticated blogging system such as livejournal or b2evolution, an option that lacks any integration with xoops.

Good to hear you guys agree..

So now.. hmm.. we need someone who knows php enough to continue it's development or at least add these so much needed features to make it better and then we'll look further.

As i said, i'd be willing to help where i can (bug testing and reporting, providing a homepage, docs etc.)

Thank you
Daniel

well, i don't know what exactly would we get by it.

I still actually think that weblog has all that is needed here for a great future multiuser blogging system, customizeable for every user and it's blog with all the needed features. It has a great foundation and it doesn't needs yet too much to make a great blog module out of it. Basically it currently just lacks image uploads functionality and ability to add personalized links to every user blog.

That's why i don't see too much benefit from making a clone of news or doing anything new as we already have what we need, we just need to continue it's development, that's it. It really doesn't actually require too much work i believe. For the beginning we could add these two mentioned features and make some "cosmetic" enhancements and then continue adding features and improvements as we go and as we need it. There is no need for any rework and a tough jobs as the foundation is there, fully functional and stable.

It would be a great shame to forget it just like that..

Thanks
Daniel

The ability for every user to have it's own blog which he can customize. I know that news module can serve as a blog, but so can the wordpress, popnup blog etc., but only as a personal one man blog.

Weblog module has that ability but is no longer in development and lacks some essential features.

So nobody is interested? I must say it's really a shame for such a good module to go to waste. If i could only have enough time to learn php i would take the project myself, but i don't so..

If however anyone would still like to take this i'd be willing to help wherever i can. I am sure other webmasters will appreciate it as well as i believe many are looking for exactly what weblog can provide.

Do i have a reason to loose my optimism about this? I hope not.

Thank you
Daniel

Hello

As some maybe already know the weBlog project is dead. It's the only conclusion to come to after months of complete inactivity.

However, i believe that weBlog was and is the best multiuser multiblog system that seamlesly integrates with xoops. I know that there are others, but those others (wp, popnup etc) are either not multiuser or don't fully integrate or something definitely lacks when compared to weBlog.

I can say that weBlog is exactly what i need for my site and no other module can fill that need better. However, it is still not enought. It lacks image upload functionality and custumization.
Just recently i was also asked about the feature to add RSS/XM L for other blogs to the certain users blog.

I plan to stick with weBlog and i have already called on my site if anyone that knows PHP would like to take the project. In that case it's homepage and if needed files can be hosted at libervis.com with subdomain and e-mail address for everyone that would continue working on it. It would be a libervis-native project. I am calling for the same here. I don't ask for attachement to libervis.com, that is just an idea. The most important thing to me is that the project returns to life and that it continues to evolve to it's full potential. The first features that should be implemented are definitely image upload capability and some cosmetic changes (for user blogs to look more like a theme and less like "just lines of text").

Is anyone interested to spend any of it's time on this project? It doesn't require full time commitment or anything like that, just someone to keep it active and going better.

In the worse case, could anyone be willing to just code in an image upload capability at least? That would be a start.

It would be a hell of a shame for a module like that to go wasted just like that. It's one of the top-notch "products" of XOOPS community. It's even been mentioned in some general XOOPS reviews talking about it almost like it was an official blog module. It must get to life!

Thank you very much.
Daniel
