Upgrading A Fantastico Install

Hiya,

while not a total noob, I'm not a coder and sorta rely on the how tos and trial and error alot, but I'm not comfortable with that on system core files (modules is another matter)

I have looked for some version upgrade info and found some, but mostly it's 2.0.7x to 2.0.9x

My installs have been thru' fantastico which I think have all been 2.0.5.2, The questions are; can I do a version upgrade from the fantasico version to the lastest stable version the same way? Which is the best version to upgrade to from where I am now?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance.

I know one already exists, inc_dmoz? but i can't seem to find it anywhere. I've looked here and at SF and even the sites that have it running don't have it available for d/l.

If anyone has it, please let me know where i can get it.

And I made an xfsections plug in for RSSfit, if anyone's interested.

Customizing Contact Us?

Ok, before you say "contact +" or Archcontact, I've tried both.
What I need is something that does both, add extra info like Arch and do custom fields like contact +.
I've looked for a template file to change the field values like ICQ, company, etc. that I don't need, but I can't find one for contact mod?
Is there a way to do this? what am I missing?

ok so I've tried this,but I'm can't see how it does anything foe SEO. Wouldn't {$story.title} or somesuch work better for getting keywords/phrases into title and meta tags, and even into a text link in the footer?

Just some thoughts, as SEO is pretty important.

Ok...so this is a bit later, hours later, and I've been experimenting with {$story.title), couldn't get that to place story text in the title bar, I've tried several others too, best result so far was with {$news.title}, BUT it's only placing 1 title in all the pages, the oldest post...????

I know there's a way to make this work, if Geeklog can do it, so can Xoops...

Thanks Herko,

It was cache and it also seems a mod upload (xCal), I dumped both and everything went back to normal.

Hope this helps anyone else that runs into the prob.

Module buttons disappeared?

In control panel home all the module buttons disappeared. I can still get to the links, modules are still there, but I have to show some non xoopsters how to admin a new site and that will be hard if the buttons are gone.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip, the user did say they had turned off their norton to see if that was it, I mailed them the info anyway.

It also occurred to me that they might have a nat on their router that's blocking access, like to figure it out, but it's a new one to me...

not for all, new users, just a small handful.

Looked at all the variables I could think of; cookies, browser, firewall, OS etc. all should be ok, but user still having a problem creating account.

Bit stumped

Ok, I tried it, not really impressed, sorry, seems real buggy.

Anyone come across something usable, integrated and doesn't need a whole lot of tweaking?

Partner Section issue

Having a problem with partner section;

I added a partner no image (section is set on text only), it added the partner. Then I went back to edit the entry, it wouldn't take the update and returned a "image file does not exist" error msg.

I grabbed an image for the partner, resized it to 140 pix, entered the file path to it, edited the entry again, same result!

Looked in section admin, config, etc. couldn't see an obvious setting to change it's behaviour. Am I missing something or is this a glitch?
