Hi Gang,

Just wondering if there are any updates on this module. I am very keen to get it up and running and was wondering at what stage it's at.

Hi Gang,

We are using XOOPS for our Masonic Family Web Site. I would like to see a module where the secretaries of individual organizations (Lodges) can update their own lists of officers and contact information. We currently use flat HTML files (XFSection Module) for this content but I would like to have the secretaries of the individual groups update the information themselves and they are very "low-tech".

The information is pretty basic. There are 6 different types of organizations and each type has their own officers and titles. For example: One type of body is known as a Constituent Lodge. It has the following list of officers:
Quote:
Worshipful Master
Senior Warden
Junior Warden
Treasurer
Secretary
Senior Deacon
Junior Deacon
Chaplain
Director of Ceremonies
Historian
Senior Steward
Junior Steward
Inner Guard
Tyler

Other bodies have a different number of officers with different titles. For example, the Knights Templar is as follows:
Quote:
Presiding Preceptor
Constable
Marshal
Registrar
Treasurer
Sub-Marshal
Guard
Chaplain
Captain General
Captain of the Guard
Almoner
1st Standard Bearer
2nd Standard Bearer
Sword Bearer
Historian
Organist

As you can see, the names and number of officers may change between the organizations. I would like the module to detect what type of organization it is and present the secretary with the appropriate list of officers. The secretary can then type in the name of the person holding the office in a blank field next to each title. In addition, if an email address is known, there should be a field for this as well.

The only other information I would like the secretary to input is the contact information for the body.

If you want to look at what we're doing now for the flat html files, please check out the Constituent Lodges section of our site.

My question is, do you think this would be a difficult module to create? I am not a programmer but I may be able to draft one of our members into service. Is there a module already out there that does something similar that we can use as a guide? What documentation exists which can help someone with the creation of this module?

Any and all information is greatly appreciated!

Besides that, I plan to include group management in "edit user" so you will be able to edit a user and manage his or her groups from the edit user page.

Great idea! Can't wait!

Bump.

Has anyone heard anything about this release? What about the latest beta? Can it be used on a production site or were there issues? I really liked what I saw on the test forum and I'm getting desperate to placate my riotous users! I'd be grateful for any update.

I too am very keen to know when the new release is due. One of my sites (which is very new) was a quick creation from an old phpbb site that is no longer available. The users like the functions of phpbb and want them in newbb. I've been keeping them in line by telling them it will come soon. However, I may have a riot on my hands any day now!

From what I've read, there were some rough timelines in early May indicating approximately one month. Do we have revised time lines yet?

Oh, GREAT work on the new version by the way! I looked at the test site and like what I see!

Thanks!

Hi Gang,

We currently have a small library of books (approx 600 books). I want our members to be able to search the book list without having to visit the library. I would like to get a module which would allow me to list and search the books by Title, Author and Subject. The books are currently in an MS Access database but could be exported to text format for import. The fields in the database are as follows:

Title
Author
Subject
ISBN
Year Published
Volume
Edition
Publisher
Shelf Number
Copy
Idendifier (used to identify who donated the book)
Note

Does anyone know of a module that will allow me to search a list of books by title, author or subject? If not, does anyone out there have one in the works?

Agenda-X Upcoming Events Problem

Hi Gang,

I am using The Agenda-X module on my site. I want to use the Upcoming Events feature as a centre block. Unfortunately, when I turn on the block, the events do not appear to be sorted in any particular order. The top few events are correctly sorted (today's on top and tomorrow's under them) but for some reason the events which have already occurred are also being mixed in before an event later in the month. I'm not a PHP programmer so if you could dumb-down your replies, I'd appreciate it.

You can view the problem on the main page of our web site (which went live on the weekend).

www.freemasonry.pe.ca

I'm relatively new to managing this type of site and would appreciate any and all advice.

Sean
