I have searched to check first - but is there a logging facility available for Xoops? So you can see which users have been online - what modules they've looked at - and when.
It would be handy for an idea of the ideal times to update sites etc - and just for pure noseyness!

Download multimenu. set links in multimenu as you want. set everything you dont want to appear in main menu to zero - but leave enabled. job done.
Or simply hide the block of the main menu when you've set up your multimenu.

I am using a custom block - using psupload from: http://www.perlservices.net/ - which allows you to select any number of files you want.
However, the only way to access them would be to manually move them to the required directories. This may be enough for what you need perhaps?

To be honest - my hosting is from a really nice firm, (http://www.3dpixelnet.com) so I'm sure they can sort out tar-ing up for me :)
I checked on this earlier with one of the admin people from http://www.gameon.co.uk - and they also advised the same method - so great minds think alike :)

I'd definatley recommend Multimenu - and that allows up to 4 seperate menus to be created as well :)
