Try script execution monitor (all) in Firebug and search on the image name. Anything unusual in the code around the time the script does whatever it does with the image? You have to be in the page that is in failure mode and refresh before you do this.

I can think of two ways to at least open the door. Provide a few simple templates that allow image/signature assignment urls and maybe text formatting. You get a little variation with the ability to add a logo or signature. You could almost do this with what is it called, TinyMCE?.

Or for elaborate html designs, design the html page in Dreamweaver or the like, and copy/paste the html into a form the same manner it is done in a content block.

One script I work with allows you to edit and customiae the generic .tpl email templates with a web editor.

It would be nice for future XOOPS to make available enhanced html mail notifications (and signup, admin alert, pm forwards etc. messages too), however if a users client is set to receive in "text only" format (to filter out potentially infectious html), then the server needs to respect that and fall back to simple text mode. Even so most mail clients can create text messages from html.

It was not so much to highlight any limitations within phpmailer itself, as it was to help identify which aspects of phpmail that XOOPS is currently not making use of. I like you am not aware of any limitations in the former myself.

I think it uses phpmailer so it might be useful to check out what it is capable of doing before compiling a wishlist of things XOOPS does with it.

Yeahh, that worked, I think we got closure on this. One side note, the original class in this template needed to be replaced rather than added (appended) to, as the script would always call the original class unless it was deleted even after updating the system module.

I can now adjust the width at will, and while I have not tried, I suppose it is also possible to use the width: 100%; or width: auto; as well.

I still get the

(3
Themes)

effect on the text, but I can live with it or follow up later.

Thanks irmtfan, flipse, and Mamba. It definitely looks professional now rather than like a hastily construed hack.

Whoever oversees what gets carried forward into future releases (Cesag? Mamba?) might want to schedule this into the next one so it gets propagated. I realize that the larger side of the issue rests in the theme side of things rather than XOOPS itself.

Using 2.5.5. Using three 1024 px themes based on .css variants of the same theme so there is no wider theme in use. All other themes, and their associated smarty compiled and cache content have been purged.

I also tried changing the size=3 spec to 80 and it blew past the bottom of the display.

Mamba, could not find a way to attach or upload image so can't help there. If you can imagine just seeing enough area to view the first initial 3 - 6 mm viewing area inside the select box, then you see the same thing.

Also the text underneath looks like this:

(3
themes)

So it starts a new line after using only one quarter of the available horizontal linespace.

Theme select block displays a comressed select box

Hello everyone,
I did not even want to post this, and I know real estate is getting expensive, but can anyone tell me why the dropdown form box in the system "themes select" block only occupies ten percent of the available width of the whatever column it is in. It is showing perhaps the first initial of each theme.

I have witnessed varying results from theme to theme with this block. Even in the best case, it could do better cosmetically speaking. All other content blocks display their content correctly.

Tweaking width parameters (px or % modes) for the content portion of the block, or the containter do not have any impact, and there is no apparent html code issues.

It does display perfectly when running IE8 in browser compatibility mode (older browsers) so I am thinking that this block html is dated.

What could be causing this, and is there a workaround?

Great news. In my 2.5.1 days (before this feature existed in profile), people would create accounts manually from what turned out to be spam IP's to get past the captcha (possibly was a captcha resolviing smart bot) and then configure spambots with the authentication.

This gets em on both ends.

Thanks for answering this Trabis.
