I have exactly the same problem with a selfmade module.
I tried uninstalling the module, but got an error. (in xoops_version.php, on line 24)

xoops_version.php:
22. $module_handler =& xoops_gethandler('module');
23. $module =& $module_handler->getByDirname('x-life');
24. $module_id = $module->mid();

I comment it out, and the error's gone, but I get a blank page (no errors with php debug on)

I uncomment it again:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mid() in /path/to/my/module/xoops_version.php on line 24

You also need the modified text-sanitizer and probably some other files too (it's included in the newbb beta)

You can't uninstall active modules, so deactivate it first.
admin - modules - deactivate your module. submit

Then uninstall the module
admin - modules - uninstall

delete the files in xoopsroot/templates_c and try again.

accessing group membership info from Smarty

After you've done that, copy the code for all themes you want to use to 1 theme.html, and enclose each layout with if-statements, to select the layout you wish to use.

your templateset -> system -> system_userinfo.html
