fwiiw

I'm running 2 sites, one on 2.2.4 with no problems and one on 2.0.13.2 also with no problems.

Yes the version numbering is confusing at first! The open project of XOOPS is/has and will be a work in progress. I have learned not to upgrade too fast in a production site. But I have and encourage you to test out new versions localy, using xampp or some other server platform. (I like the flexibility of xampp)

As the XOOPS developers span the globe it isn't always easy to get through to everyone as context is interperted differently. Once you grasp that concept, it is much easier to understand (does that make sense?).

In addition, I use search here alot, there is a lot of information here and most times the questions have been answered previously. I think because this is open source you are encouraged if not expected to do your own research before you cry too loudly for help. A lesson I learned long ago.

Just a note to thank all those who work on XOOPS development, upgrades and modules......... cheers
Jeff

My protector is only available under the admin side,

System administration > Modules > XOOPS Protector > protect center. It does not show up on the main admin block on the top page.

I'm using XOOPS 2.2.4
xoops protector 2.55

You don't have permission to access /xoops226 on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at localhost Port 80

I think your server is running since you're getting the above 403 error, I don't know enough about RedHat to help you with the ports, hopefully someone will jump in, if not I'd suggust reposting with a diffrent subject. Like

403 Forbidden error on localhost

that may generate some more responses specific to your problem

Your hosting company should have a backup of your entire site, including the DB, it may be a week old, but at least you will have something.

Give them a call or however they take care of things, since they moved your site to a different machine and not coordinating that with you, they should be quite cordial about giving you some good service

good luck!! like they say, your data is only as good as your last backup

You will also have to delete the contents of templates_c so the cache refreshes.

Good Idea, but hot dogs don't agree with me anymore , however I always enjoy a good cookout

I started looking at cms a few years ago for a project or two, tried duportal and looked at phpnuke, I finally found XOOPS and it was so much easier with the install I stayed!!

I consider myself a newb because I haven't dabbled in the code or ever done much with php or sql although I have a degree in computer science. Actually I own a small excavating business, so much for college.

The main site I support is kind of proprietary so I rarely put out the url. I do check in here 2 or 3 times a week, more if the weather is bad. I'm willing to help where I can.
