Bookings or Reservations Module

Hi All,

I'm looking for a module to taking bookings. I've looked at the ResManager module but it isn't quite what I want.

The module is for a club running trips for it's members. The module should display a number of trips and the ability for members to add their names (userids) + guests to the list. The module should have fields for the administrator to confirm bookings once a deposit or payment has been received.

Can anyone suggest something that may be able to do this?

Thanks,
Gareth Wilden.

Re: Xoops & Window XP

Hi Zimode,

I've installed Apache and all the bells and whistles on my Windows XP box but got nothing. However, I then got hold of the "EasyPHP" (1.18) package and everything worked like an absolute charm - XOOPS installed and worked first time.

I did have problems on the second access but had to disable ZoneAlarm firewall to get it to work. However, I've now upgraded Zone Alarm and that too works.

Can't offer you much help, other than to say it does work, and if you get no joy then try EasyPHP.

Hope this helps,

Gareth

CBB 1.12 Blank Pages? Please Help!

Hi,

I've tried CBB Forum 1.12 which works like a charm on my test site, but on my production site it does not want to play

I can set up everything I need and all is fine until I submit a post, then I get a blank page. Debug is turned on, and the page is truly blank, no error messages.

I can create Forums, Sub Forums, Posts and Topics with no problems, switch to the forum page and all the topics and categories are there were they should be, but when I try to view a message, nothing.

Most Bizarrely, this works fine if I use Mozilla or Internet Explorer (sorry for swaering in the forum), but with Firfox, nada

I'm using XOOPS 2.0.9.2 and CBB 1.12.

If anyone wants to play, PM and I will give you the URL and log-in.

Many thanks for any information that you can provide,

Best Regards,
Gareth

Re: Can I turn off User Ranks?

Thanks,

THat was kind of what I suggested I did - make one group with a nice graphic and a stupidly high post count and put everyone on that. Was wondering if there was a way of removing them altogether, but this looks like the way to go.

By the way, I really like them. We're offering prizes to conitrbutors based on good articles and this is a great way of monitoring status. But the users moan so they got to go...

Gareth

Can I turn off User Ranks?

Hi All,

Several Users of my site have complained that they do not like User Ranks, it makes them feel unwelcome. I realise that I can change this by either changing the lower one to something everyone is happy with and having an exceptionally high threshold, but is there a way I can turn this off altogether (or at least prevent them from being displayed?)

Best Regards,
Gareth Wilden.

Re: Need a UK host!

I've recently hosted with NativeSpace - www.nativespace.com, who are based in the UK.

They are NOT the cheapest players on the block (high end of average) but the quality of support they have provided to me has been absolutely first class and I have no hesitations whatseover in recomending them.

On the downside, I was previously looking at Streamline internet in the UK. They were cheap, but as the old adage states - "Pay Peanuts, Get Monkeys", and after 3 support calls on one subject (had to be 3 as they didn't bother replying to the first 2 as they got bored after a while) with 5 different answers, each mutually contradictory, I gave up.

If you know what you're doing, ask a few pointed support questions before you sign up. If they can't get the trivial bits right, there's no way you will be able to rely on them when you do run into the eventual problems.

Re: Home Page

There are three suggestions here, All of which I have used heavily.

1) Create a Custom HTML Block with some text that you want displayed, such as your welcome message and graphics

2) Use the Marquee module to do similar, but slightly flasher and present more date.

3) Use the Excellent WF-Channel Module. Set a link in the HTML welcome to go to this, and then you can have all you static pages very easily linked in on here, plus it has excellent "link to us" and "Refer a Freind" functionality.

Just a few ideas. Hope they help!

Re: Auto forward file...

And I thought my 7 lines of code was pretty compact

Re: Auto forward file...

There are probably a hundred ways to do this, but this is the simplest that I know of.

Create a file "index.html" in the directory that you are pointed at by default. In it, create similar to the following:

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=http://my/path/to/go/to">
</head>
<body>
Redirecting.... Please wait
</body>

As soon as this page loads, (which it should by default) then the meta refresh is activated (wait time of 0) and the browser is redirected to the page specified in the URL= part of the tag. If the server and connection is quick enough, the text "Redirecting..." will never be visible.

Hope this helps,
Gareth Wilden
