After reading some other posts I think I would have to clone the "Recent Topic" block and call it [5] like this.

$modversion['blocks'][5]['file'] = "newbb_new.php";
$modversion['blocks'][5]['name'] = _MI_NEWBB_BNAME5;
$modversion['blocks'][5]['description'] = "Shows recent posts in the forums";
$modversion['blocks'][5]['show_func'] = "b_newbb_new_show";
[
b]$modversion['blocks'][5]['options'] = "10|1|time";
$modversion['blocks'][5]['edit_func'] = "b_newbb_new_edit";
[
b]$modversion['blocks'][5]['template'] = 'newbb_block_new.html';

By looking at the code I can see the differences between the blocks being the code that I have highlighted in red above.

Now, if I want to show last 10 posts instead of last 10 topics all I would have to change is the word "time" to "post" in the code for my [5] block and create a new file called 'newbb_block_newpost.html' ??

Or, am I way off track here I am so confused

"Edited about 12 times"

Hello everyone, I have posted this question once before here:https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?forum=20&topic_id=34541 but didn't get the answers I was after (i can't read chinese) and the last post was a bit of a derailment.

Anyway, I am still trying to work out how I can display the last 10 recent posts (not last 10 recent topics) in a block.

I don't know PHP very well so if you can help please post here.

Thanks in advance,
Marty.

YES!!

phppp, the block and page is exactly what I was looking for. I am however having a hard time reading your site as most characters are squares.....even after I clicked the english language button top left of your site so I can't understand the discussion.

Marty.

You've looked at all posts......

Well done mate

You deserve a medal. In some seaches I do I get like 600 search results resrtircted to this site only and only get to about 15 or 20 before I find the answer.

And doing a search for "blank page" I think would turn up at least 5,000 posts.

You are good man, I comend you

I agree, a site that has only a small faction could turn off a customer regardless of need for product purely due to low membership......but not necessarily to visitors. They are two entirly different entities.

Also.....without changing the subject, I would like it if a member had the choice to search for a member or see all members. Currently I have it set up so that only members can view members/profiles/accounts but when a member clicks on the "Members" link in main menu they get "number of members" and then they have to search........

I would like it if a member clicked on "Members" in the main menu they get all members A to Z with the option to search.

Now that would be cool

yeh........a simpile XOOPS is not so hard and it doesn't take up too much room....

I know it's all free and stuff and there is no requirement to display XOOPS but damn.........it would just be rude not to wouldn't it??

Do people not have morals anymore??

Here's a challenge.......

I have a client that wants a random "Did you know" quote on the transition page. He's not bothered by the standard format he just wants a random quote for people to read while they move from one page to the next.....which I think is a great idea.

Any ideas??

Marty.

Hi phppp, thankyou for your reply as I "really need this" but your links are to permission only pages and I have no link to register with to see those pages.

I hope you will see this post as I would love to see those web pages you linked to.

Regards,
Marty.
