Commenting out a line in PHP is using a semi-colon ; correct?

Or is it as in Linux and commented out with #?

Thanks so much for the help!

Greetings,

Is there any way to make the passwords to be non-encrypted? This is a database of research articles, nothing that needs to be secure since most of it can be found on the web anyway.

I also understand how to make csv files for importing into MySQL and I'm using PHPMyadmin 2.5.6 as supplied by the hosting server. It's not bad once you get to know it

Peace,
Gail

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately this web site project needs to be finished by August 9th so looks like I'll be updating to that version when it's released.

I'd really like to know which pages/templates would need customizing. Although I am new to Xoops, I have worked with PHP somewhat and html a lot, I always back up my work do that I can fix something that's broken.

Peace,
Gail

Greetings,

Is there any way to lose most of the fields in the "Edit Users" section of the XOOPS admin? All that I need under Add New User is Nickname, Name, Email, Location (optional), and password. All the rest could go away and I would be happy about that for this web site. Do I disable something in the database? Or in the template? Where do I find it?

Thanks for any assistence!
Gail

Greetings,

I have an old MS Access database that I'm working with to import into a new XOOPS web site. There are approx 100 users that are accessing the database on another server at this time and I would like to be able to set all of them up in the new MySQL database by importing a csv file as I have all the other info so far.

Is this possible with encripted passwords? Or will I need to enter each individually by hand?

Peace,
Gail

The joy of using open source is in being able to do such things, this is very true. However, one must first understand how the software works to begin with, and second have some kind of understanding about writing code (which I don't understand, yet), and third have the time to spend hacking.

Peace,
Gail

Thanks for checking! The answer is yes, and now I'm figuring out how to change the HTML so that the "Register Now!" link is gone.

Thanks for your help,
Gail

Greetings,

I would recommend The Host Group (thehostgroup.com) installing Xoops, creating a database, and setting permissions was seamless and fantastically easy. This was all on a basic, Plan 1 account at $9.95 per month.

I've been using and recommending these guys for three years now, I found them after I had two hosting servers disappear overnight within the space of a year.

Hope this helps,
Gail

I am grateful for the help that I'm getting with everything and excited about using Xoops, it looks good.

Hello Again,

Ok, I got into the Template Set Manager to alter the html for my login (to remove Register Now! and to have the first page displayed be /news/index.php). The problem is that after I make HTML changes within the admin screen, there is no apparent way to save those changes. Also, the "view" button does nothing but refresh the screen. I am using KDE 3.2.2 and Konqueror to view, is it that these pages are not compatible?

Thanks for any help!
Gail
