Re: password protecting certain pages

for anyone who might want to know:

yes you can create folders within the inPages directory.

Then you can make this folder accessible to registered users only.

thanks very much for your help.

Re: password protecting certain pages

should i create two folders. One for pages that can accessed by everyone and anyone and then another that should contain pages only accessible to registered users?

I shall have a go and see if i can figure it out

password protecting certain pages

Hello

I have used the content module icontent.

I was wondering if I could make certain pages within this module password protected?

So that only people who have logged in with their user name and passwords can see those pages.

I know how to create a block and make that accessible only to registered users. However this didn't give satisfactory results as clicking on a link in the customised block led topages being displayed outside of the XOOPS frame that I had all my icontent pages in.

Thank you for any suggestions

Re: activation of new members

well i think i may have figured it out now. It wasn't difficult I was just being dumb.

I just have to set activation to automatic in userpreferences. ( I guess this is safe as only webmasters should be able to register new users - as I'm deleting the register now box)
And I can create new users in system admin - edit users.

Can I just ask if there is a limit to the amount of users I can create in this way. I envisage there being atleast a couple of hundred users.

Thanks

activation of new members

Hi

I am experimenting with how to register new members for my site.

I only want to be able to register certain people to be able to access certain pages. So I have made some pages only accessible from links within a block that can only be seen by registered users.

So my first question is how do I register new users - each with their own username and unique password. I can't do it by clicking on the register now button because that will be deleted because I want control of who registers. All I want to appear on teh website is the login box with a space forpeople to enter their username and password. The register now bit will be deleted.

Secondly I tried to register a new user by clicking on the register now button and this message appeared:

"You are now registered. However, we were unable to send the activation mail to your email account due to an internal error that had occurred on our server. We are sorry for the inconvenience, please send the webmaster an email notifying him/her of the situation. "

Any suggestions or pointers greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Re: start page & plain html

just to suggest another route.

If you wanted to go back to using cj content : the following mught help.

I used icontent and similar to you, if I set icontent as the startpage then I would just get the icontent mainpage displayed and not the page I wanted to be my startpage.

So I replaced the html of the icontents mainpage with the html that I wanted to be my homepage.

I did this by going to system admin - templates - then looking at your theme I clicked on the word 'list' by icontent (cj content in your case). In here there will be a template that controls your index page called something_index.html. I clicked on edit and deleted the code and replaced it with my html code. Then saved that.

Hope that helps a little.

Re: Rotating profile pics

I managed to get random pictures on my homepage by using code someone off this list recommended to me at:

http://www.alistapart.com/d/randomizer/rotate.text.

Copy and paste the code into Notepad (or something like that) and call it rotate.php. Create a folder for your images and save rotate.php in the same folder.

Then use the code <img src="path_to_images/rotate.php"> in your html page where you want the random images to appear.

Hope that helps a little

colour of text in footer

Hello

Does anybody know how to change the colour of the text that appears in the footer. I don't want to change the colour of anything else though. At the moment it takes on the same colour as the background of my banner and columns.

Many thanks
