Easy way to get a perfect fit every time:

Rightclick on the original and save it to your desktop. Open the saved graphic and paint it whatever solid background color or pattern you want. Paste your logo on top (may have to resize the logo to fit). Merge layers if necessary. Touch up if necessary. Save the file.

Right click on the orginal logo (on the web) again and choose properties to find out where it's located. FTP or somehow upload your updated file to that location, choosing "overwrite" if you're asked.

By pasting your logo on top of the old one you make it easy to get the correct size. This is a quick way to break in a new theme. You can often use some of the colors on the original theme logo to help your graphic blend with the theme.

FAQ Header over FAQS in xoopsfaq module

Can anyone tell me where I will find this line or whatever generates this line (or something like it):

<h4 style="text-align: left;">FAQ</h4>

that causes the word FAQ to show up above the faqs (as it does above the faqs on xoops.org. The Faq module is a great way to organize info, but I'm not really using it for "faqs" so I don't want that as the title--want to change it to something else.

Would appreciate the help,
Brian

I installed another copy of XOOPS (which worked fine) and found this path:

http://mysitename/modules/system/admin.php?fct=groups

With this info in hand, I plugged in the real site and opened the groups form.

(It's probably important to be logged into your site before you do this).

I chose webmasters and checked every possible box. Then clicked "update group".

Problem is solved.

The root problem in my case is a bug. When you open group "webmasters" it does not initially show accurate permissions for " Sytem Admin Rights". None of the modules are checked--even though you do have admin rights to them. Then, when you change some little thing about this group and click "update group" you end up denying yourself admin rights to all the modules that aren't checked (all of them).

If the form was accurate when you first opened it, you would have to work hard to create this problem. Also, there really should be no way the master user can lock himself out of accesing the admin menu unless he fools aroung with the code.

No windows server here.

Operating system Linux
Kernel version: 2.4.18-27.7.xsmp
Apache version 1.3.29

I'm going to look around some more and maybe start another thread--my problem has nothing to do with installation (worked fine for days) or 2.07 so maybe I'm poking my nose into a different problem.

I've got XOOPS 2.05 with the same problem.

The "system admin" module is not visible in the Administration menu. Second, when I try to force it with the URL--"site name"/modules/system/admin.php I get the message "Selected module does not exist".

Reading the threads it appears the thing I have in common with similar problems is updating the group permissions of "webmasters".

Yesterday I installed Agenda-x, then turned the module off, then turned it back on again just before this started--don't think this is related but I'm throwing it out there in case someone recognizes a pattern.

Will return if I find anything...

Is there no way for the first/main/master user to force his way back into the system admin menu without going out into the code or database?

A wikki search yielded the following forum thread:
Re-naming portal / Who's Online issue.

The answer to this problem is in this thread.

Specifically, I went into phpmyadmin, found the xoops_config table, found the slogan and sitename fields and fixed two entries in the 'conf_name' field.

You simply put (you may have to replace something) "sitename" (without the quotes) in the appropriate 'conf_name' field and "slogan" in the appropriate 'conf_name' field. Fantastico has this field mixed up. Once I fixed this problem--I went back into XOOPS and made the changes--and it WORKED!!

Thanks for those who responded and got me on the right track.

Brian

Haven't had time to work on this as much as I'd like but now I'm trading sleep to get back to it.

I wonder if this change in 2.07 would fix the problem if I simply upgraded.

tjenemez--that was already set as you suggested, as I am on a "get it up and running while the wife is out of town" binge--so I've wanted to see all changes quickly.

Bender--Thanks--it appears there's a great deal of info on this. I'm sure it's the @#%&*!#$ Fantastico issue.

Well it's off to do some reading. I'll return with the results or the thread that already had the answer.
Thanks for the quick responses,
Brian

Thanks for the redirect Bender...

I can't make information stick in the Site Name and Slogan for your site fields. I enter the information and press the go button, but there's no change to my site. When I return to the General Settings page, both fields are blank again.

I'm going under System Admin>>>Preferences>>>General Setting >>>Site Name and Slogan for your site.

No problem updating other information on this form or on any other form--just those two fields.

I'm using XOOPS 2.05, if it matters.
