I'm not a systems admin for XOOPS anymore. I've given advice on how to fix the problem. That's all I can do.

Good suggestions, but a big job to post to all of them.

Is any one of the above list the most "logical" choice were there to be a single nominated posting point?

Or is just one posting-point a little idealistic?

Viral distribution.

If an official statement is posted on say, SF.net, Xi, and XOOPSforge.com, then you reach enough of an audience to kick in the viral effect and the message would spread rapidly.

A single point would be idealistic as not everybody visits a single site.

Clearly, given what happened to this site, that info couldn't be posted here. So, where could it have been posted and by whom?

Constructive comments would be appreciated

PHP-Stats is a good choice. It's not a module for XOOPS, but it is easy to install and provides good information about your visitors. If you wanted to present it inside the XOOPS interface, you could easily use an empty module and an IFRAME to present the PHP-Stats interface.

All they need to do is log into the secondary server ("v"), locate the MySQL log files (easiest way is find / -type f -size +20000k), delete the MySQL log files, then restart MySQL. It takes less than 5 minutes. If that doesn't work, reboot the server.

It's not a good idea to try to mass mail users using XOOPS. For mass mailings over 50 users, you would be better off to use a tool likehttp://www.phplist.com/ that can send the mails in batches.

Many hosting providers have measures in place to block scripts that send out more than 100 emails at a time. Most ISPs check for such pattern and could blacklist your domain if your not careful.

Formulize may be good for that purpose.

The link is dead right now because dev.xoops.org is down, but as soon as one of the admins can get to fixing the problem, the site will be back up.
