i agree with you.sure looking at working merchant strategies is a point to start from if the own empirical values doesn´t allow to build something from zero.and sure the most popular marketing plans are based on old tactics to get the users interessted in something.but as you already said a own flaire is needed to work out and show the personallity of xoops.

i think corporate identity is an important thing in marketing although it seems to be lost sometimes in "younger" merchandising.but if you take a look at some of the popular companies you see that they spend much money to build a specified look where every little thing is recognizable by the user.sure it bringt the feeling of an older situated and professional look rather than a young an sporty one but i think professionallity is much more important then a fresh juicy look cause XOOPS shouldn´t be or becomes a toy for everyone.you know what i mean?
only my opinion.

i´m pleased if some of my ideas can help bringing XOOPS a step forward and i hope i (and every other who is interested) can further put thoughts into it.

@alitan
i don´t think XOOPS is unable to grwo up and build something very large.i only wanted to say that it is not the same like what mozilla does with FF and there´s no need for XOOPS to compare with it.xoops got an own life and its more important to stand out against others than to copy a way to apparently success

although it is absolutly important and necessary that some merchant strategies are worked out i think it is a good way to involve the community into that.
i really get bored with that comparison with firefox.same as with that logo thingy.
xoops isn´t firefox and the XOOPS found. isn´t mozilla.
i think it´s not just absolutly impossible for a OS project to manage things like a company like mozilla allready cause of the money but i think it is not the right way to imitate others and XOOPS doesnt need that too.
i dont think it is the goal for XOOPS to make it used by every second guy like mozilla does.

but back to the topic (cause like i said, i think it is the way of an OS project to hear what the mass said) i think one of the most important steps in spreading a project is to make it really global.a start page where i can select my language and will be guided to the accordingly support site, a unified corporate identity look and the same main content on these sites.conditions for the support sites like a fix crew structure of developers, supporters, translators and so on.
sure much things to do and many loyal users are needed but i think things like this should be one of the first in todo lost to take XOOPS out of the corner and make it more "professional".

sorry for just dropping out some lines but my english is not good enough to tell all what i thought.

hi there

i´ve got to do an extra register form to combine it with an ordering process.
now i got that script working fine (for my simple needs) but without any security machanisms.I know it should be just a couple of c&p from register.php but i really cant get it to work like this
i know i´m not writing the scipt like it should be in XOOPS but i´m just a beginner and was really glad i got it to work like it is.
it would be very nice if a friendly man can get some time to revisit my script and make it XOOPS valid and secure.
or if this is too much for just help tell me how much it will cost.

thx in advanced for every help.

HERE you can get my primitive first step

hi there

could some be so kind to show me how i can redirect the user to where he´s commin from after registration (without mail/admin confirmation) like the titel says.
i.e. the register.php was called from modules/mymodule/index.php there the user should go after the registration.
shouldnt be that hard i think.i just cant find where to put the redirect best.

thx in advanced

"personally" i dont see any similarity between my and those excite logo.already because the excite logo is in a "handwritten" style.i dont know about that logo, better said i dont know about these site till i see about it here.

"for me" i will use the actually one but i´m workin on another one that is managing this point.
perhaps someone from XOOPS should say something about it, i dont want to spend much of my time if theres no question about "official" mascot anyway.

Also, give a try to horizontal reverse to have ">" instead of "<" (mathemical langugage in mind).

atm i dont know what you wanna see.xoopin is most of all depending on the original XOOPS logo (see header here) which is like "<".i dont know whether its good to change that regarding recognizing.same call to a XOOPS dev to express opinion
