Alitan,
Definately no disrespect intended, but my take on this is that if we're going to do real marketing for XOOPS, we should do it right. If we need to promote XOOPS, we need the Marketing Plan that Skara, wtravel and the other members of the Marketing & Promotions Team are working on. They, as experienced marketeers, can tel you that FireFox's marketing comes from a well considered and thought marketing
strategy (our Marketing plan), and is executed in a coordinated
campaign. This last is important, as this means all activities are aligned with developments such as releases, openings of new sites/looks, it has a consistant message, a profesional look and feel, etc.
The idea you have is very good, and I gladly invite you to join the Marketing & Promotions team and develop thisidea into a part of the XOOPS Marketing Plan, and setup a coordinated promotional campaign, like Mozilla did with Firefox. But doing it ad-hoc, spur-of-the-moment, and (excuse me, again, no disrespect) a bit amateuristic, will not help promote XOOPS -on the long run.
Again, I hope I do not kill this initiative with this post, and that you join the efforts to do this right from the start
