And you have PHP 4 on the test system and PHP 5 on the production system?

Try one of the Wordbook clones Lexicon or Lexique instead.

I'm not at all familiar with this module, but I doubt it will offer the emailing functions you wanted.

It tries to make this configuration file as XOOPS_ROOT_PATH/cache/fckconfig.moduledirname.js, so, your /cache directory may not have the correct write permissions.

From which version did you upgrade?
Did you change the characterset of the database?
Did you check the user group permissions for the modules in admin?

Check that the path exists and that the xoops_data and its subfolders are all set to have write permissions (chmod 777) (see release notes).

NB: Installing xoops_data and xoops_lib inside the web root is unsecure.

I missed this one also, because it gives the easy to use menu of the 2.2.x series.
You can copy the module from the previous edition or from the authors website.

Are you talking about /register.php?
There are hardly any items to remove (except maybe website URL, which is not a required field anyway), without impairing you or your site.
What is your XOOPS version?

Are you sure that in admin - modules - news - permissions with the dropdown on 'View Permissions' the checkbox on the category for anonymous users is unchecked?
Because, here it simply works!
What is your PHP version?
