Help

I do not know what is going on here.

I am pretty sure my database came over from previous host ok, as I still have all 79 tables, and my users can login, it just seems as though nothing can be done to the site now, it has to stay as it was before moving hosts??

I am unable to add forums also, I have this loop where it says I need to add a catagory before adding a forum, so I do this, it says database updated successfully, I go back to add a forum, and it says I need to add a catagory.???

Thank you for ANY help

Dave

Anyway - it appears that the adminmenu had vanished from my cache folder???

Anyway - thanx for all the help with getting site moved, now I just got to correct all those really dumb newbie "absolute" errors!

Thanx again

Thanx for your help, I seem to ALMOST have my site up on the new host, however, I now have this odd little error:

whenever I login as admin, and then try to access the admin menu, I get this message:

This is your first time to enter the administration section. Press the button below to proceed.

I click submit, and it keeps returning to that page?

I click cancel and it does nothing ???

What have I done now??

Thanx for the help earlier people!

Moving host posts

But from my limited knowledge after restorin my system a couple of times: open your DB in wordpad or similiar - and copy all.
On your host create a DB then go to PHPMYADMIN ...

I am trying to create db with fasthosts, but I have just been told (not sure if anyone can confirm this) that they do not support phpmyadmin, something to do with them been unable to charge for some of their other services??

has anyone heard of a product called dbtools, I am looking for it at the minute, someone has suggested that may be what I need - can anyone confirm?

Hello,

I have been playing with a little site for a few days, some of you will have seen me here and there in the forums asking questions, well, now I am pretty happy with what I have to play with.

I have decided to pull the site from my quite restrictive ADSL webspace and upload to a new loaction, but I am not sure where to start?!?!?

I have ftp'd everything to a folder on my desktop, and I am currently uploading it to my new location, and appart from some silly mistakes I remember making when I was linking to certain things (which are going to have to changed to point at new location) I have no idea where to go for my SQL database.

I have tried downloading a copy of it using 2 methods;

1: savedb from the module respository
2: using the export feature on my ADSL providers admin page, both appear to have taken a copy of the database, although considerably smaller than their admin page says it should be.

I now have no idea how to get that info into my new database.

I have been through the mainfile.php, and changed the entries for my new dblocation, dbname, dbuser, dbpass.

I just dont know how to get the data I have already into a blank database?

Any advice?

thank you

Dave

Hello, can anyone tell me how to restrict the Whos online block?

I can set it to either be there, or not be there, if I show this block, it is universal, and everyone can see it, I only want the webmaster to be able to view this block.

Does anyone have any tips?

I have tried going into admin menu and choosing blocks, choosing webmaster from the top drop down menu and then saying yes to the block in question, but this seems to allow everyone to see it!

Appreciate any tips!

Dave

Creat a menu to display links in sentre block

Hello all.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have had a bit of a look round, and I have downloaded and tried a fair few things from this web site over the last few days, but I just can't find anything to do the job for me!

Let me explain:

I want to creat a block, or menu on the right of my page, I want to be able to list articles in there, that when clicked will display in the centre block of my web page.

I have tried doing this with several modules etc on this site, and I am not getting anywhere, so if someone know how to do this, or what module I need, I would be very grateful!

I have tried just creating an Iframe and then getting the WF-Channel (or something like that) to display it as my homepage, but i have encoutered problems with this route basically along the lines the Iframes appearing in different places on the 2 systems I have looked at (this one - Windows XP/IE6 - And FC2 Linux/Firefox)

I have tried using stuff like the MyMenu and MiniMenu (I think that was their names) with these the layout is great, keeping in with the rest of the system and what have you, But when I click on the links (which are basically articles, located in a folder called articles @ webspace) they either open in a new window, or in the current window, there does not appear to be an option to open the links inside the centre block?

I know there's alot there, but knowing me I have probably still forgot to mention something, if so sorry, but guys, I would appreciate some help on this 'un

Thanx

Dave
