OOOOPS

I figured it out

I must have been testing it in the same way that new users where using it.

I have enabled automatically activate.

it seems if you dont click finish at the end then the account is not activated.

is there a way I can inform users they need to press finish if they want to sign up?

HELP - New users can't register???

Hello

I would like some help or some pointers regarding a user registration problem.

I have a small website - that has not had a lot of traffic, but I do notice from my web stats that I am getting some traffic, but I am not getting any new members at all - did not think anything of it at first - it has been about 10 days since anyone registered - I was assuming that my site had no content that appealed to new comers (its about Linux) but today someone sent me an email telling they where unable to register.

I signed them up through the admin area, as I did for another member about 6 days ago (but at the time I put the problems down to the user)
When I sign them up - it works fine they can log in and do as they wish.

I have tested the problem and I am also unable to register as a different user.

It says user registration was successful but I can't login it says user unkown - and if I look at my control panel the new users (my test users) are not appearing in the list - also when I check the database they are not been written to the database. AND I have tried putting the email address in the 'lost' password area it says there are no users with that email address.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Dave

COOL thanx this seemed to work great (almost)

I now get the RSS feeds that I want, although some of them do some wierd stuff like the BBC - I ask for 5 feeds in the main page, it gives me about 20, but only descriptions for 5 ??????

AND for some reason it does NOT appear to work with WF-Channel, for some reason this does not display any more?

I have tried a few things and even removed this RSS module, but it is simply not working any more.

Doesn't bother me too much as I have found another way of getting that info across, so never mind, but if anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it, please share as WF-Channel is pretty good!

Anyway thanx for the tip (Iknow it seems to have messed something up but... I can live with that for now)

I would also recomend using this tool to other XOOPS users (unless your using WF-Channel as your homepage)

Dave

PS: I have just tried adding another RSS feed to it, and this also failed to follow my administration - again I choose only 5 items in the main windows, yet it displayed about 20.

Both of the feeds I am having problems with are ISO-8859 feeds, where as the UTF feed has no problems, any thoughts??

Did you ever figure this out as I am also unable to get newsfeeds from locations other than Xoops, and I also have tried several sources and all the different encoding optins available??

Thanx

Well if anyones interested, I just setup my old site to use the WF-Channel as its hompage, the page I chose as the WF-Channel main page was just a HTML page with the HTML redirect tag, seems to work OK, the transfer is fast enough over ADSL, but possibly a bit of a delay with a dial up connect, but for now, it will do fine!

Question About a Redirect Page

Hello, just a quick question!

I have been running my site at my ADSL webspace whilst building and testing, I have now moved it to a new location, but I do have a few members that visit my ADSL webspace.

Is there a module, or a method of redirecting to my new domain?

I know how to make straight HTML redirects, I was just wondering if there was a way of redirecting with either XOOPS code or PHP.

Thanks

Dave

Well, not sure if I dare say this, in case I start getting hate mail

I fell out with my XOOPS site earlier, and deleted the lot (luckily my members so far are only friends)

I decided to try one of the others out there.

I went for PostNuke, and to be honest the initial feel and setup of the site/cms was really nice.

However, I have only been using XOOPS for a few days, perhaps a week at the most, but my god I missed some of its features once I started trying to do a few more advanced things.

In fact I missed the simplicity of XOOPS even when I was merely adding a banner.
I am not a coder, by any stretch, but it seems easier to tweak XOOPS code than it is to tweak PostNuke code.

So I'm back, I just wiped the lot again, and gFTP is uploading a fresh copy of XOOPS to my domain space now!

I only came to Xoops, because I couldn't get PHPNuke to work for me!

What does that say?

I hope it says that XOOPS is the best/easiest CMS to work with, rather than I am just useless. > <

So waste of databse space I know, but thank you XOOPS.

Not sure if you've fixed this, but I also had the problem, it seemed to have been caused by the permissions on the cache folder had been changed??

and also, when I looked in the cache folder the adminmenu.php file had vanished, I chmod'd the permissions and dumped a copy of the adminmenu.php in the folder, and that seemed to have solved it!

hope this helps (if you not fixed it already)

Oh by the way, just in case your wondering, I do not get a list of errors like that, I was trying to show you what I see when I:

Try to isntall a module

Try to uninstall a module

Try to activate a module

Try to deactivate a module

Sorry if there was any confusion...

Dave
