I went to your site and it changed.

I'm not sure how it works but if you view the same topic during the same session, it won't affect the count. It just counts it as 1 time. It probably has something to do with the cookies or session, I'm not sure. So as admin, you cannot increase the no. of views by looking at that topic over and over again.

I don't know why you need to redirect it when you can make the News module your start page. Go to your Admin Menu -> System Admin -> Preferences -> General Settings and choose your start page from there.

Specifics would have to depend on the theme, but as long as you know where the left column (or main menu) gets rendered, you can insert the image before the <{$block.title}> Smarty tag.

In the default theme, you will have to edit the theme_blockleft.html.

Addendum:
Sorry, I was thinking about the left colum. For the center blocks in the default theme, edit:

theme_blockcenter_c.html
theme_blockcenter_l.html
theme_blockcenter_r.html

I'm not sure though if a fieldset will allow .gifs in the legend area. I suggest converting these divs or fieldsets into a table.

Wouldn't a Headlines archive be dependent on the channel's archive? How would it be searchable from within your site? A database with just 'headlines' in a site would have to keep track of the availability of that news from the RSS feed channel.

Or am I missing something here?

Wow! That worked! I've been having that same issue with the system admin logo. Thanks!

Now, that really has to go to the wiki!

I'm not sure, but I think he's saying he locked himself out of System Admin by removing access to it through group permissions.

Do a search for "Group Permissions". There's a URL you can use to go to the Group Permissions page.

Is this a patch upgrade? Why does your URL have an "html" before the modules (.../html/module/news)? I think you're supposed to upload folders and files under the "html" folder but not include that folder.

Including the "html" folder would make ".../url/html/" your root directory for xoops.

Hmmm... then why does it say "D:\web\custroot\..."? There's probably something wrong with the Root_path or URL. Or is that root_path normal for your web host?

Is this a new install or an upgrade? Were there previous users prior to this?

Can you go to System Admin -> Preferences -> User Info Settings and tell us what is found in the text area for "Enter names that should not be selected as username"?

Check groups and group permissions in the System Admin -> Groups in your Admin menu. Check which group you belong to and the permissions for that group.
