Hello there!

I'm looking for a little assistance with some things on the new site I'm working out. I want to set the site out real nice with a fair amount of information available on the first page.

At the moment I'm looking to add in a few features but I don't know how to do them so I figured I'd ask here.

1) 'Welcome' Block - I've noticed on some sites there's a static sort of 'welcome' block with info on the site etc etc that does not change as, say, blocks like news and so forth would get updated. How do I make this?

2) Cookie'd Login - I was wondering if there was any way to save at least the login name of a user to the site or perhaps both so they don't have to login every time they visit? I know for me it can sometimes get quite annoying. The theme I'm using has a 'remember me' checkbox but that doesn't seem to do anything, and I set something in my user profile about caching my login name for a year and that doesn't seem to do anything either. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this just not possible with Xoops?

3) 'News Blurbs' - I've seen this on some XOOPS sites (for instance www.secondsquare.com that I found on the links section of this site) where news or perhaps articles ('m not sure which) is displayed in a long form on the front page with an option to read the full story. When I try news, all I get is a link with the headline, no blurb. I also notice that in some of those formats, it keeps the picture of the Topic like "game news' or 'world new's that the article is filed under. How do I set this up?

4) Side Banners - I'm looking to utilize large side banners on my site, put in to one of the side blocks, nice and big to use. I don't really care too much for where the theme I'm using places the regular 4x6 banners. Is there any way to set up the side banners to use the same storage and management system the regular banners use? I realize I'd probably have to put some custom code in a block or something.

5) Application Form - This is seperate from the signup form for the site itself. Now to be honest I haven't actually looked for a solution for this here, but I might as well ask. What I'd like to have is a sign up form for something seperate. The user fills in stuff like name, email address, etc etc. An ordinary sort of web form. Can XOOPS handle this (or is there a module available to do this) and then send the info to the webmaster (or maybe store it somewhere that it can be views/notified)?

6) Thumbnail Size - In the Website Info and Top Poster and so forth blocks, the system uses whatever avatar you upload and reduces the size of it to display there. Is there any way to adjust the size of it to something a little less cramped?

Anyway, these are all the questions I have for now. Thanks in advance for any help with them. If I have any further questions, I'll post them in this thread.

Thanks for what you could provide.

I have this nasty suspicion the solution to this is easy. I just don't know what it is.

What do you think the chances are of the dudes from Montis or BBPixel showing up?

No dice. It's set to 755 already.

Would the x-IPB have changed that file?

Sixty views and nothing. *sigh*

Anyway, I tried what little I could think of and no dice. Then I remembered the debug stuff. I ran it in php debug mode. This is what I got.

Quote:
*LEFT*
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "xbox_wide/theme_blockleft.html" in /home/pttfulij/public_html/omni/command/class/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1084
*CENTER*
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "xbox_wide/theme_blockcenter_c.html" in /home/pttfulij/public_html/omni/command/class/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1084
*RIGHT*
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "xbox_wide/theme_blockright.html" in /home/pttfulij/public_html/omni/command/class/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1084

I got these errors over and over in each column, I assume for each module block I had set wherever.

Does this help you guys help me?

15 views and not a single reply of any sort?

Please guys, I could use a hand here. I'm betting the problem isn't that big since the stuff I installed work fine with the default themes.

Any help here?

Seems like I'm on here every day now.

Long-story-short: I screwed up my first version of the site (2.0.13) trying to install x-phpbb. reinstalled with XOOPS 2.2 and the montisarts xbox_wide theme didn't work. Tried posting here and sending montis a message on his site but no luck.

So I decided to go back to 2.0.13 (also because I read there'd be problems with a lot of modules not working right with 2.2 and so forth).

Back I go. On advice I got on this board I installed Invision Power Board via the x-ipb plugin instead. Seems to work. But the montisart theme doesn't show anything at all. I really don't want to put any more work in to putting together this site if the them I chose and modified (only grahphically) can't even work with it.

Any help you guys could provide would be much appreciate it. I love XOOPS and I'd love to get this working.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the site seems to work fine in the default templates, but when I put it on my modified version of xbox_wide (omni_wide) I get a header and a footer and no content.

The site address ishttp://omni.new-eden.org/command

I'm having a problem. I recently decided to create a site with XOOPS and spent most of the last couple of weeks messing around with 2.0.13. I screwed that up trying to install the x-phpbb thing.

Yes, I'm spending a lot of time on this board cuz I'm screwing stuff up.

Anyway, I had Montisart's xbox-wide theme loaded up on .13 and it worked fine and I had graphically altered it to do what I need. But after I screwed up my XOOPS yesterday I decided to do a clean new install with 2.2. Then I re-upped my (graphically) modified theme and now it doesn't work. I get an error:

Warning [Xoops]: Smarty errorunable to read resource
"xbox_wide/theme_blockleft.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php
line 1084

Maybe someone here can help me?

The site is athttp://omni.new-eden.org/command

I believe I read somewhere that you can convert phpBB to IPBoard but I've never done something like that before. What do you do exactly?
