Well x-e I have no idea.

I have not found any information of use on the XOOPS site. Plenty of threads refer to it but there is no help for the newbie like me on how to install and use it.

Looking at it a little deeper, I see that installing it from the download on the XOOPS site gives version 2.84 and then updating from GiJoe (the 2.9 version) reports as 2.86

Looking at the main announcement on the XOOPS home page, I should have started from version 2.0.13 I think.

Ah well..... back to the day job.

Thanks Massacre. That did the trick.

However, I have updated to V2.9 but the module admin page still says v2.86.

any ideas?

Using the blocks&groups admin gets the above error.

I have just installed and configured XOOPS 2.2.2 and the album was the last bit to set up. I'd hate to have to start afresh with an earlier xoops.

Questions.
Will this cause me any problems?
Is there something I can do to fix the problem?
Is there an update available?

Worst case, can I take all the setup I've done in 2.2.2 and apply it to a 2.1 or 2.0 installation?

Thanks

I am an experienced programmer but not in php or anything like it.

I want to understand how it all hangs together and the best way I can think of is to step through the code, line-by-line examining the contents of variables etc as I go.

So I want to be able to execute the statements in index.php one at a time and see where it goes next.

Is there a tool which will enable me to do this? Is it even possible with php?

Somebody help out an old COBOL luddite

BUMP

Lots of views but no response so far.

If I am asking a stupid question or asking in the wrong forum, somebody tell me.

By the way, I have already figured out the uninstall question.

Hello,

I have just installed the latest version of XOOPS and I have a couple of questions.

I have installed the Even News module for running a mailing list. It has an option to use SPAW editor. When I enable this option, the compose function does not work. I figure this is because I do not have SPAW installed.

Where do I get it? I have looked in modules but cannot find anything called SPAW.

Secondly, in looking around I saw something which referred to an updated version of the news module. I went to the module admin page an clicked the update button and it updated to 1.1 but that was not as high as the version no I have seen on the XOOPS site. What do I have to do.

Finally, I anticipate that I will be installing modules galore as I tinker and play and will probably not want most of them once I have figured out which bits I need. How do I ununstall modules tidily?

Thnks.

Andy

Thanks for that. They look good from what I can see.

If I sign up with them, will you get a payment for referring me? I see the sign up page asks for the id of a referrer so they must use it for something.

Let me know the ID and I will gladly use it if I go for them.

Hello,

I am currently with Forc9 (sister of plus net)

For my £5 (GBP) per month, I get...
Unlimited mailboxes
PHP MySQL PERL...etc
Hosting for 3 domains
Don't remember how much dosk space but more than I need

All nice and reliable. Trouble is all the cgi-bin stuff has to be on one server whilst the main data needs to stay on another. Also, to work on the cgi side, I have to be connected via their dial-up rather than using my local cable company broadband service.

Anyone have any suggestions of a comparable package?

Yes, just like me. I have work I should be doing too.

RESMGR looks like it will do what I need but I may need to come back to you loudo for some translations and guidance on how to change your code to bend it to what want.

I think I will be out this evening. My wife will be singing in a club and I will have to run the sound equipment or nobody will hear her. So, two things.....

1. If you post some advice or help, please don't be upset if I do not answer.

2. If you have other things to be busy with, please do those first, I can wait.

Thanks to all for the help.

Andy
