Hey Guys,
Thanks for your very very quick and prompt response. I will go and check those options out now and look.
SMD I would like to thank you for your help in the last topic I had raised. I decided to back a lot of pages in a different category and found something on what I was after.
It seems that what had been offered there would make it a permanent feature allowing both internet and local network access to my site.
I will send a request to the XOOPS team asking if they would include it in the installation guide as a minimum and possibly integrate it into the installation aswell.

I will let you both know what I can find with regards to this Topic.

Thanks again
and all the best Tom (PS Happy New Year and have a good 2005)

Hey there,

Firstly I would like to congratulate the XOOPS Team on building/scripting such an amazing bit of software/script.
I am still trying to come to terms with the power of this thing.
However, where ever there is praise there is usually a downside. I am wanting to use XOOPS to create a site. Ok so whats the problem you may ask. Well, currently I have the ability to use forums, downloads, links, partners etc modules that are readily provided with the XOOPS script. I am however wanting to create static pages as part of my main site. I have been playing with the idea of possibly using the news module to do this but have since found that it would only annoy and anger visitors due to the navigation required (to each thing etc).
I am not completely sure if there is a cms third party snap in that I could use in which I could create static html pages by means of of either html or rich text editing.
If there is one then which one would you suggest.
My server specs are as follows;
Windows 2000 AS
Apache 2
MySql
PHP

Any information is very much welcomed.

All the best Tom.

You've to edit both path... virtual and physical.

SMD

Hey SMD,

Ok. What exactly would I have to enter in each field ?
EG. at the moment each reads as follows

physical c:/programe files/apache2......./xoops
Virtualhttp://www.mysite.com

What exactly would I enter in each field.
My server name is blackhawk (just incase it is required)

All the best Tom.

Hey,

Cheers for getting back to me so soon. I started thinking the same thing, but surely if i do that then when people come to view the site it will try and open a page with the ip i had entered (the ip in question being a network ip and not my web ip).
Either way I think i am going to lose.

Are there any other possible solutions ?

All the best Tom.

Hey again,

I am just wondering. I have noticed that during the setup of XOOPS I was asked to provide a virtual path (URL to my site 'http://www.blahblah.com').
How ever I run my sites and server locally and use a modem router. This setup does not allow loop back (basically i cannot view www.mysite.com from a local machine) I have to instead view it ashttp://serverip/name . How could I manipulate the virtual path so that instead of it switching pages via means of the full url that it would instead change pages within the directory so that I may view the site locally.

All the best Tom.

Its alright,

Ill find some way of sorting it. I am going to remove XOOPS and see if that solves the problem. If so then I may be able to get round the problem by configuring it differently. If not then I will have to try and find the cause of the problem.
Thanks for your help again and at least that little typo has been fixed lol.

All the best Tom

Hey,

Yes those error lines have gone. But something else seems to have happened in its place lol. I used to be able to host multiple sites on my server by means of creating folders within the webroot. My domain name has now decided (im unsure if its linked to xoops) that it will only try and read out of the default web folder and nowhere else. This is despite of me telling it to do otherwise.
Does XOOPS alter IIS settings in some that you are aware of ? Or do you know of a way to solve this little problem.

All the best Tom.

Don't worry about it. It can happen to the best of us at the best of times
Im just glad that some knew exactly what the problem was.
Ill edit that line now and save the new line into the file.

Thanks once again and hopefully everything else will prove just as easy.

All the best Tom.

Hey there,

I have installed XOOPS successfully up until the point where you enter your desired admin details (user, e-mail and password).
I entered my details and clicked on ok and got the following error strings at the top of the page;

Notice: Undefined variable: block in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\install\makedata.php on line 127

Notice: Undefined variable: block in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\install\makedata.php on line 127

Notice: Undefined variable: block in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\install\makedata.php on line 127

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\install\makedata.php:127) in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\install\index.php on line 1231

I am running my own server from home therefor it is local. I run IIS, with windows 2000 Advanced Server, php 4.3.xx, MySql 3.23.49 .
I have enabled all the neccessary folders and files, these being;
Uploads, Cache, Templates_c and the mainfile.php .
If anybody could help I would grately appreciate it.

All the best Tom
