Great, thanks everyone. I do have XOOPS with a few modules up and running on a test server running Ubuntu Breezy Server. Works fine with the PHP5 version on there, but the distro still uses a MySQL version 4.

Anyone have experience with this? I'm guessing "no" about now.

I've searched the boards and seen mixed results. I'm running XOOPS 2.2.3; can anyone out there confirm or deny if this version works with PHP 5 and/or MySQL 5? I understand there may be issues with individual modules, but I'm just asking about XOOPS itself. Thanks!

I don't have the newsletter module installed so I don't have that issue. But, are you sure you want to force your members to receive your newsletter? I'm sure there's more to the story here, but it seems like forcing someone to receive something they may not want is akin to spamming.

Thanks all. The Firefox thing was installed as a joke against one of our members last Fri, and honestly I forgot to remove it over the weekend. It's going bye-bye now though and wasn't meant to be a permanent fixture. My apologies for it.

FWIW, the script came from ExplorerDestroyer.com.

Thanks for the comments. Goober, sorry to hear you were so upset by the FFox thing. Don, I hope to see you around posibly?

And, and the biggest difference in the site between FF and IE is the IE handling of PNG graphics, which we use extensively. The overall look of the site is the same, but it does look a bit less polished in IE.

Again, sorry if that thing upset anyone. I had honestly forgotten it was there, and it is now removed.

We just recently started this website, DebCentral. It is a news and online community for users, developers, and gurus of all types who use Debian GNU/Linux or one of the hundreds of derivatives. Our idea is that since so many share the core tools, but differ in implementation we can all learn from each other and work together. We try to cover all derivatives as much as possible, and have admin team members who are well experienced in most of the major derivative distros.

Eventually we plan to add much more in the way of features and tools, such as wikis, an apt repository, and perhaps space to host those who wish to develop debs that could be used across distros. I guess you could say it is an attempt at unity in an area where there is usually division. While they come in different looks and ideals, they all share the common Debian core. Anyway, check it out, let me know what you think, and maybe even join us

Headlines not stripping an img

Hey all,

On my site, we have the headlines module displaying on the right column of the front page. This has worked great so far. Now we have a problem though, the feed for Linux Gazette now includes a favicon so RSS readers have something spiffy to look at. The problem is, it shows up on our frontpage (looking quite squished and odd) even with the settings configured to *not* show img's. I contacted Taran at LG and asked about this; they have no plans on removing the favicon, and I don't want to just dump the feed.

Is there something I can do to strip this img? I haven't looked at the code for the module yet, but I assume a fix can be implemented using the existing code? Anyone have a suggestion as to how to go about fixing this? Thanks in advance, and the URL to see this problem is in my signature.

Thanks everyone; yes the site is for MEPIS the Live-CD. I've been talking with Warren about maybe allowing some remixes, and I like the idea of the LiveCD webserver a lot. I'll pass that one along.

Anyway, I know the horiz scroll sucks. It's the dern photos that are causing it. Maybe I can shrink them a bit more to get tid of the scrolling; thanks for the observation. Anyone else see anything needing some work? I know about the squished icon in the RSS feeds area, that's being worked on. Seems LinuxGazette replaced their Drupal favicon with the Tux one, and for some reason the Headlines module isn't stripping the img.

I hope to see you all on dotMepis soon too!
