boumbo, as far as I can judge, the code is placed correct at the bottom of the themefile just befor the closing body tag ( </body> )

Perhaps(!) google analytics doesn't like to have the script more than once in the source, so you may delete the one from head tag?

it's not realy the rewrite i'm dreaming of. i'm using this on some areas of xf, but i'm dreaming of an editor with the ability to add sites not "just blocks".

I had a dream about XOOPS

Quote:
I couldn’t sleep this night for having too much ideas and thoughts about x:o (XOOPS.ORG) blowing in my head. Was it a dream? So I’m up tonight. No Panic and … sorry Susan! No it isn’t regular that I’m dreaming about a CMS

Here is One topic out of my head with a high priority (at least for me). To make XOOPS a real CMS or in other words, a bit more than “just a ContentModule Managing System” or “just a Community Management System” WE will NEED at least the option of managing First- and Second-Level Navigation (and –Content) within XOOPS CORE. Let me tell you what I mean by saying this. The best solution I’m used to use is actually presented by Wordpress (hey, I don’t know much about other systems :) ).

To devs: Give us the ability to create simple html or php pages with our own content and the ability to take influence on the kind of creating URLS to this content.

Let me create a page with title “site-information” and let me use this page as single- or category site. Let me create another site with title “about” and let me use “site-information” as a base if I have chosen “site-information” to be a category site.

Let me get the following URLS :
http://mydomain.tld/site-information.html(.php)

or if chosen this site to be a category site:
http://mydomain.tld/site-information/

and let me create then:

http://mydomain.tld/site-information/about.html(.php)

Needed?
Perhaps an option in Admin-> Preferences:
Manage first-, second-level content?: YES/NO
USE SHORT URLS for this content?: YES/NO
Use first-, second-level navigation within mainmenu?: YES/NO

Give us an additional simple Form (area) in Admin to submit our first- and second-level content.

FORM:

SINGLE Content Site or Category Site?: dropdown (Single/Category)
USE Category for this site?: dropdown (home, all available categories)

Title: INPUT HERE
Use title for URL likehttp://yourdomain.tld/title.php?: (YES/NO) [option fields]
(if no, content will be displayed like index.php?id=23, no displaying of categories in url)

Content: INPUT HERE
(You may use normal Text or HTML)

ENTER BUTTON TO SUBMIT AND STORE TO DATABASE

To make this dream reality, it will only need some small changes in administration and 2 or 3 mySQL tables, isn’t it? Couldn’t be that hard, could it? Beat me for I’m having NO SKILLS in php

Can I help to make this dream become reality without using modules and skills in php?

Michael

thanks you for this suggestion. Not a direct answer, but ... W3C, XHTM and CSS validation is priority ONE on my (personal) list! We will sure look into the themes you’ve mentioned …. But !!! … My personal opinion: NO!, it shouldn’t be a desigers/theme creators job to dig in the mood of templates and to rewrite all of them (not to offence anyone). In my vision, in the (mid-) long term there should not be a real need of modultemplates but smartys output we can use from the module. Today there is too much stuff in these templates (and too much events to make mistakes). While we are using a CMS, the modules output is the content and this should not be filled with layout or positioning stuff. Module Devs should take care of their modules to work and get the result they want, theme devs should take care how to display these results. Many theme creator fail to take care of all modules output. Today, many themes itself are already valid xhtml and css and eg. don’t abuse tables for positioning stuff, but when it comes to display “invalid” output of modules, the layout crashes or strange things are displayed which are not intended. We (theme creators) already have visions for some years now how things could be handled easier. It is time now to work on achieving these visions. But it will be a process … and there are things which have to be done before. … to calm down … There will be some additional templates for at least the “most used/wanted” modules, as far as I know today! still dreaming ... michael edit: perhaps i misunderstood the suggestion and I shoot to much on modultemplates ... CORE themes and templates will have prio1 on my list as said above

To sum up in short what has already been said, tasks of our group with priority ONE will be [1] to train XOOPS theme- (and module-) designers and improve skills in any aspect, [2] to be responsible for the default themes shipped with XOOPS core releases and [3] to maintain the XOOPS theme repository.

Besides these tasks there are many topics which should be discussed, many ideas, visions and opinions I hear while talking with others, but let’s not start too many tasks at once. This was my personal fault in the past.

Here is the list of names of the group member:

DefianceB0y
incama
JMorris
kris_fr
Philou
sato-san

If I forgot someone, please let me know! If not done already, every group member should pm me her/his valid contact details. Thanks!
