Entropy is alright but a better option is this one:

ServerLogistics

They have complete packages for Apache 2, MySQL, and PHP and also include Preferences Panes that allow you to control Apache and MySQL from the System Preferences.

Weird login problem

I am setting up another site using XOOPS (Stupid Head). The install works fine and XOOPS is running okay but I cannot under any circumstances login using Internet Explorer.

I can login fine using Mozilla (a better browser anyway) but IE just returns to the login screen even after saying "Thanks for logging in".

This is weird.

The only thing I can attribute it to is that this install of XOOPS is sitting on a seperate folder under the main install of XOOPS for my Rider NZ site which makes the path http://rider.net.nz/stupidhead.

However I do have a domain name of http://stupidhead.gen.nz that points to the above directory.

Of interest, XOOPS sets up the mainfile.php with this line set:

Quote:

// Virtual path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://rider.net.nz/stupidhead');

If I change this to:

Quote:

// Virtual path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://stupidhead.gen.nz');

XOOPS will not run.

Is there also an entry in the SQL database that maybe needs to be added as well?

According to the Zip file it's WFSection 2.1.

Anyhow, the problem is that WFSections doesn't use the 3 number CHMOD but a 4 number one and so doing 444 sets the file as something like 1537.

I've tried 0444 as well but to no avail.

CHMOD settings in WFSections 2.1

What is the sequence for changing the CHMOD settings of files using the FileManager in WFSections 2.1?

Normal CHMOD codes are like this:

777 = read/write/execute access to everyone
666 = read/write access to everyone
444 = read only access to everyone

but WFSections uses a four number system and I can't set the files to the equivalent settings.

What CHMOD settings in WFSections would give me the above settings? e.g. what settings in WFSections would allow me to set a file as 444 or read only?

I had many issues with XOOPS Gallery and MyAlbum.

I managed to get MyAlbum working but it refused to see ImageMagik and thus I had crappy thumbnail images.

I recommend XCGallery because it works and does so very well.

Check out my site and click on the Photo Gallery module to see what I mean.

Gidday rider mate. You need to update your signature there old fella. You no longer need that /xoops at the end of URL.

That was quite old wasn't it. That was way back when I was testing XOOPS.

Fixed the sig now.

Thanks for the comments on the site.

Really looking forward to the new version of WFSections and XOOPS 2.1.

Hint hint guys

Gimme Gimme Gimme right now.

The Reviews section is a boon for me.

Just a quick question though, I can't see anything about this so maybe I've missed something to which I am sorry, but will there be an option for creating a PDF document instead of just being able to print?

Not a biggy if you're using a Mac because we have the Save as PDF option under printing but the poor saps with Windoze don't have this nice feature.

I had a wee play with Mambo and it's got a really cool feature that I would like to see in XOOPS and made use of in modules.

Mambo can create PDFs of pages on the fly.

Be nice to see it in action in XOOPS

WFSection has a FileManagement tool but this is limited as it doesn't allow for changing file permissions nor does it allow batch uploading.

I can't get Invision FileManager running in XOOPS. IFM looks like what I want but I just can't get it running. It just says something about the module not being there but all the permissions are correct so I don't know what's going on.

Is there another module like IFM that works for XOOPS? Maybe one in development that requires beta testers?

I want to use this module because I need some way in which I can upload files through our proxy at work.

Has anyone got any English instructions about how to install this as my Dutch is a little non-existent.

Thanks.
