I think you can do it if you hit F5 on the "your post has been submitted" page at the right time.

Anonymous Posting

For the NewBB module, I'd love to see an option to allow anonymous posting on a per-thread or per-category basis.

In other words, let's say that there's a thread called "Survivors of Suicide" or some such thing on the site. The webmaster doesn't want anyone but registered users to be able to post, but does want registered users to be able to post anonymously.

To accomplish this, probably the best option would be to have a checkbox that someone with moderator, administrator, or webmaster level rights could check (I'm assuming it wouldn't even appear for other users) that would enable anonymous posting on the thread.

If the anonymous posting was enabled, then registered users who went to post on the thread would be shown a checkbox when they posted that would give them the option to either post anonymously or post using their username.

If they chose to post anonymously, the database would not store their username, but would instead treat the message like it treats messages from users whose accounts have been deleted: the username comes up as anonymous, the signature doesn't appear, etc.

For purposes of avoiding abuse, we might want to log IP addresses and make those only available to the webmaster.

Also, I'm thinking that the option could be turned off at will by those with the appropriate rights. I don't think that would be a problem; the way I'm envisioning the code (logically, I mean, not technically; I don't know nearly enough about PHP or SQL to begin to do this hack myself...or I would!), the posts are written to the database as anonymous, so flipping the toggle would make no difference. The only downside is that the anonymous poster could not go back and edit his/her own post. I don't see that as a serious problem, though.

Thoughts?

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, but try this link:

I actually like the look of NewBB. Simple and clean.

The button was a PayPal button, provided by PayPal, not a XOOPS module...

Ah. I thought it might be so!

Thanks.

Depends on the license.

Its the other way round I think. The "Top" page in blocks is the module your site defaults to load on startup i.e. "News"

If you go to preferences and choose "None" as your start module, all your Top page blocks will appear on load. News will only appear when you click on the News Link, and you can select which blocks appear with "News"

Rrrriiiggghtttt....but that's not what this guy wants.

What he wants is for the latest few news stories to appear with a short synopsis on the front page (not just a link, but the actual synopsis) and then on the news page to have just the news with none of the front page stuff (like the recent posters, the custom welcome block we're putting on the front, etc.).

If we set the start module to News, then the front page stuff appears on both the front page and the News page (because, of course, they are essentially the same thing). If we set the start module to none, then we can only get a list of the news stories (sans synopsis) on the front page by selecting a block.

Re: Selected Module Does Not Exist after host change

You need to do a "find and replace" in the database (the SQL files) for references to the old IP/domain name. I think there are two hidden in there somewhere. (Make sure you use an actual SQL tool and not just a text editor...we tried it using a text editor and found it's just way too easy to screw things up.)

Re: Donations to development?

There was at one point a button on the front page of the site to make a donation through PayPal, but I see it's gone. I am actually working on a site for a non-profit that would like to be able to take donations through PayPal, and I was curious to see how it was done here. I thought it was a module, but maybe it was just a custom block with some HTML in it that linked to a PayPal page.

Anyone out there know?

Making the news module appear without the front page material

Here's the deal:

Client wants to put the News on the front page of the site. But the client also wants it so that when you click on the "News" module link, the news module appears without all of the front-page stuff.

The News module is set for the XOOPS start page. I have all of the blocks for the front page set to appear only on the front page and not on the "News" page, but it still all appears.

Is there any way around this, or do I have to tell him to make a choice?
