Wow. I post something, go away for a couple of days and look at this. My Inbox overfloweth.

So. It was a new installation. When prompted for the administrator name during the installation, I used Administrator.

Later I was fooling around with the field in the user profile that I wanted members to be able to use as their birthday. That is where I encountered the calendar problem. I don't know if that is possibly related.

It was when I was doing those updates to the profile that I noticed the change from Administrator to Administra in a block on the page.

Sure enough, I couldn't login any longer with Administrator, but Administra worked just fine.

I'm far from a pro, but I didn't edit the Administrator username inadvertently. The system did it somehow.

In editing it now, I find that I can change it to Administrator by means of the System Edit User menu, but cannot by means of the User Profile Module. User Profile Module only wants 10 characters.

Using the System>Edit User, I changed it back to Administrator.

Under the Profile Module and choosing to edit Administrator, it brings up Administrator in the field, but if I delete the "tor", I cannot type it back in.

It's late on my side of the pond so I'm not going to give any perspectives on the U.S. tonight.

Incidentally, this thread is a good example of why I think we need an "exclude from search" ability. Then the member or the moderator could check that little box and searches would only yield the first post containing the problem and whatever posts actually contain the answer.

It might be fun to read through this today, but I guarantee when this happens to someone else, the volume of posts in this thread will not really be of assistance.

As a basic user, I think if there is going to be a limit on the username length, that control should be in place during the installation process.

The server at my host seems to be causing some other problems. I don't know if that my be to blame for the truncation.

When I noticed what was happening, I was trying to understand the date issue that I reported under another post.

I was viewing the profile of the Administrator account and making changes to the field I have called birthday.

I noticed the difference first in the Site Info block which shows the Webmasters.

Later I noticed that it was also changed in the profile. I tried logging out and back in. When I did, I had to use the truncated login. With the shortened username everything seems to be working just fine.

I updated all modules including the system yesterday afternoon after I did the upgrade.

2.3.1 - Administrator username changed to Administra

This morning as I was working with my site I noticed that the Site Info block was displaying only "Administra" under areas like who's online, Webmasters, Top Posters etc.
When I check the profile, it has dropped "tor" from the end. I now have to log in as Administra.

I have not touched the database, only logged in by the usual means.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Advice welcome as always.

XOOPS 2.3.1 User Profile Field Type - Date issue

Using XOOPS 2.3.1 I want to add a field in the user profile for the user to enter a date of birth.
The calendar does not go to dates prior to January 2000. I anticipate that most of my users will be older than that.
When I try to edit the profile, the date I select does not save.
Using the "long date" as the field type causes the date to be set to the present date when trying to update the member profile.
Similar odd things happening using the "date" field type.

If there is a more appropriate place to report these anomalies, please let me know.

Thanks!
I'm learning my way around piCal now and it seems to function just fine with 2.3.1.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a calendar module or other means that will allow users to share a calendar in order to view the availability of the other members, meeting dates etc?

Preferably one that is compatible with 2.3.1 as this will be a brand new site.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

I'm going to assume that there is no difference between upgrading from 2.3.0.

In the News article it has instructions for upgrading from 2.3.0 but not 2.3.1 RC.

I am using 2.3.1 RC.
I wanted to collect the members' birthday in the profile. No matter what I enter as a date at either registration or as the admin, it resets.
If using the "Long Date" option, it sets the date to the current date.
If using the "date" option, the date is set to January 1, 1970.

The change happened quite quickly it seems. Progress is great.

My question is if I have installed 2.3.1 RC, do I need now to upgrade to the 2.3.1 final?
