Maybe it would be possible to have a function to after-check imagename vs category ("sync folders"). Using imagefolder as backup and make copies recursively to album/$category/image.php

Would be nice !

can't see extgallery pictures : removing .htaccess ?

@ Culex : You were right. After removing the .htaccess in "../uploads/"; i can see my pictures on the site and also admin.

Question : i didn't add this .htaccess file, so i think it was there by default. Is there any risk if i remove it ?

@ Mamba : integrate PIWIGO, fully or at least create a bridge between user would be great to manage it using only one user connection.

Well, i don't know how it's named in english and i'm not sure i described it well. It's like a "carousel" in french, where we can make 4/5 photos turning with a short description with an hyperlink to redirect to the news, videos, album...

We see it on every site on home page to present last infos !

Like :
http://lci.tf1.fr/

...

I think it's not a complicated module. It would need a default block including a slideshow effect, and the possibility to writte like in news, short infos with a picture. Then we could select 4/5 infos to displays.

I'm now using it with the theme maitscoportal, but each time i update it, i have to change all (order to display 1 to 4), and i also delete things... but i would be happy to keep it as archive, so i could put it back easily.

The fields needed would be i think :
- large_picture
- thumb_picture
- news_title_side
- news_title_on_large_picture
- short_description_on_large_picture
- link

And so maybe we could adapt an existing module.

I also thought developping a block in a gallery module to do it, but i do not have knowledge in programming,

I have the same problem.

I can't see the pictures uploaded, even after trying to rebuild thumbs;

I'm using the last extgallery version 1.0.9



OTHER THING :
I also discover an interesting gallery : PIWIGO
This gallery have a synchronization between FTP folder hierarchy and picture address in db. So in case of problem, we can easily recreate galeries with a synchronisation, and also delete in db pictures deleted in ftp!

Would it be possible to create a module like this?

Hi, looks an interesting module!

Could it be used for a "news slideshow" on a home page, like on the theme "maitscoportal" - Can we see a demo ?

I'm looking for a module where we could choose 4 or 5 news to displays on a homepage with a slideshow (look at the theme maitscoportal), so we could manage on back office the news (is quite long to change it in the theme)

Each record would have :
- large_pricture
- thumb_picture
- news_title_side
- news_title_on_large_picture
- short_description_on_large_picture
- link

I don't think it would be a complicated module, but very useful!

So, maybe this module could be used for it?

So great news, the best for 2010 year... still in time :)

Here are my test results :

* Problems or to change :
- Quite disturbed in admin side by the icons on right side and info on left side (contrary should be more comon)
- Weight category limited to 127... Why? I'm used to record weight like 1000, 2000, 3000,... to insert other categories in the future :(
- blank page after "add batch photos" (will try tomorow from an other computer) - but photos moved in uploads/extgallery/ ... in differents sizes, but do not appears on the site (lready looked persmissions)... don't understand why i see any photo online ?

* I like :
- New admin icons
- New management of slideshow/album displays on admin side
- news parameter options for slideshow

* Still missing :
- TAGS !!!!!
- option to use : or random photo for category illustration, or defined picture
- option to activate/deactivate easily an album (= temporary hiding option)

Hello,

I really like the new image manager in 2.5.0

To my mind, 2 easy things are still missing :
- Sub category management ("pid" data to add in _imagecategory) ?
- Image list to display big categories... like for module page, display image or list is quite usefull

Just installed xnews for a new website last weekend. Great module!

Weight is missing to organized categories and articles displays... Don't you think ?

Hi mandrew,

I don't use these modules, but i can advice you :
- xnews : still updated, it will allow you to publish articles...
- multimenu : hard to understand at the beginning because of all hte option, but quite powerfull
- liaise : for contact forms
- myiframe : if you want to insert frames...
- mpmanager : for private messaging on your site
- videotube : to easily insert video embed codes from dailymotion, youtube...
