I runhttp://www.myottawa.ca . Still developing the site, and adding new features each day. I generally heavily customise the appearance and display of most modules, by changing the language and template files of each. If you look in the url bar you can see what modules I am using for each section. Alot of custom blocks as well. The theme is a modified version of the default theme, with some elements of other themes whose css styles I liked.

I am using xfsection to display my Google Video & YouTube videos. Instead of articles, which is what the module was designed for, I insert the YouTube code instead. There is an index page for this module which lists all the videos, but I wanted one with thumbnails, so I made a separate page in the Content module, and update it manually myself each time there is a new video. Works for me, for the moment.

for your first issue, not being able to edit your ads, this is probably because you haven't updated the form.php file, a fix that is needed to get some modules to work with the latest XOOPS version...search on this forum for 2.0.15 form and you will find the link, or maybe someone else will post it here. That fixed this issue for me.

I have a copy of it...I can't send it to you with the form you linked to above, or rather I think I am being redirected to the module default form, I don't know. PM me your email, and I will send it to you.

You can see how I am tweaking this module at divingreviews.com. I am still working on this site, bit by bit. I have installed the new form.php modification on my 2.0.15 install, and everything seems to work ok so far...but then again I haven't really tested it extensively.

yes, I am quite sure they do actually. Google's terms & conditions state that you cannot have the AdSense ads of more then one publisher on one web page. The terms *do* allow you to have more then one AdSense ad on an entire site however.

There are already a number of web sites that already offer a sort of AdSense Revenue sharing system like this... but these usually display the Ads in a block, which rotates between the site publisher's code, and the article submitter's code... so they end up splitting the revenue 50/50, or on anther ratio. My site is a bit different, in that I allow the article author to receive 100% of the ad revenue..well, I have no choice, as I only paste their ads on the article page! But we both benefit in the end.

there is a little icon at the bottom of the side bar that allows you to "switch views" between XOOPS view and wordpress theme view. I believe you can also set which view shows by default in the module preferences.

Hello all,

If you are interested, I have set up a system to allow my site members to make money with their published articles using the Google AdSense program. Google AdSense allows you to include the ad codes of different AdSense publishers on the same web site, as long as there is only one unique AdSense publisher per page. I am using the smartsection module to display articles on my sitehttp://www.myottawa.ca . In each article, if the article author includes their AdSense publisher ID# when they submit their story, I will include an AdSense ad on that page. I am using "wrapped" html pages that present each story in the same template format, with the Google AdSense ads placed to the side. If an author submits a story with their publisher ID, I just change the publisher ID in the story template for that article, so that they would receive all of the ad revenue that article generates.

It's a win-win situation for both the person who submits the story, and for my site; my site gains new content, and the story author gets the chance to make some money from their postings.

You can see an example story page, with AdSense Ads on the side, here:

http://myottawa.ca/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=4

Here is the page where I explain how it works:

http://myottawa.ca/modules/content/index.php?id=5

Here is the story submission form for AdSense Publishers:

http://myottawa.ca/modules/liaise/?form_id=4

(you can see that I am using the liaise module to do so)

I hope you found this interesting.

Jeff

How to disable line-break in Kovi editor?

Is anyone else having trouble pasting their AdSense code into the body of their articles using the Kovi editor (I'm using smartsection btw). It seems that Kovi always adds in line breaks in the AdSense Code, which causes it not to work. I know I could avoid this problem by pasting my code in a block or a template, but I don't want to do that in this case, as the code will always be different for each article. Pasting the code in the code option of the editor doesn't seem to work either. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Jeff

Based on n01un0's comment above, I also decided to try xfsection for displaying my movies. I had been using smartmedia before, but found that it took alot of customisation to make things look like I wanted. Check out how I used xfsection here to display movies instead of articles, as n01un0 did. Most of the customisation involves changing the language file. If you just want to show embedded movie url on your site, this module does the trick.

Check it out here.
