Why don't you add it to the wiki?

This can be implemented without the need for a shell script. You can do it by dedicating either a pop account or using a catchall account to send mail to and then use the pear mail scripts to check, download and parse the e-mail and store it in a DB table.

My xmail module will do this using a catchall account, giving each and every XOOPS user an e-mail account based on their reg info. When a new e-mail comes in the script parses the e-mail and stores the e-mail in a DB table assigned to the users ID. It will support autoresponders, filters and more.

For your idea you could simply make a defunc user account and then send all your news, article or whatever to that e-mail. Then a second script would check the table for new messages and parse the content into the according DB tables (News, articles or whatever) from there. No shell needed. Infact you could use a dumb down version of xmail to make an update module to perfom only this task.

And for those curious, xmail is still a ways off of a release. Sorry.

I've beening looking at porting Edgepanel to XOOPS (http://www.renaxsolutions.com/html/edgepanel.php), but I'll have a look at this. Edge panel is a complete support desk, with built in live chat, server status, kwnowledge base, tickets and more. They've taken the download down for now as it had a few bugs and they're waiting to release the new version, but it looks awsome.

Correct, they are encoded with MD5, and they cannot be decoded. Only reset.

Unfortunately their backends are very different and, to the best of my knowledge, there's no conversion scripts out there to do it. Sorry.

Try to keep in mind that not everyone has just a personal site. And from a business stand point having the "Powered by" in your site looks unprofessional and it also allows your competitors to know exactly what you used to make your site (Not good). I don't think any of the devs feel insulted by the fact you've removed the "powered by" tag. Most of them understand that not everyone feels comfortable having it there, it's not an insult to the product or it's developers. And that is also why it's not required to be there. The only things that must stay is the license text in the code (Which no one sees but you).

For example, my sitehttp://gaining-mass.com is a business website. It makes money and I have competition. By using XOOPS I'm able to offer other services that my competitors cannot. I don't want to tell them that I'm using XOOPS because then I'll lose my competitive edge against them.

It could be a DNS issue. Your ISP maybe having problems and the only DNS record cached for your IP is the last one you visited before the problem, just a thought, not saying it's the problem. Also, if you're on windowz, you can always try the old reboot trick. Seems to be Microshafts solution to everything and usually does solve the problem.

You got a big mouth for someone who doesn't have a clue how to build software!

I have no interest in helping you make more money by charging our community. I'll continue with development of a FREE POP e-mail client thanks.

And YOU sir are wrong, it's messy and horrible coding practices and a nightmare to code having TWO user tables. Sheesh! We want modules, not HACKS!
