I'd recommend NewBB2 personally.

No core hacks. Actively being worked on. Uses all the XOOPS calls and databases natively. I think some of the ideas from it may be incorporated into XOOPS (like finer permissions/groups). Actively being worked on. Quick responses from the team of devs that are coding it. Oodles of new features. Easier to modify as it is XOOPS native. New features already announced that will make it even better. Actively being worked on. Probably a bunch of other things I can't think of right now.

Everything looked fine to me using Firefox. It's all Greek, but I think that was to be expected.

Thank you so very much. I'll try that this week when I do the NewBB2 upgrade on my site. Much appreciated!

I know there was a script by bd_csmc that converted my phpBB to NewBB without any major problems (had to recreate group permissions). That would be a good starting place. It may require some cleanup in the end for things that don't translate into NewBB2 easily but I can't imagine it would be difficult.

I'm sure that those familiar with the changes they made to the core/database are much more qualified to make a migration script back to NewBB.

To me, it's counterproductive use of dev energies to expect them to undo a hack that they warned repeatedly would make core changes that they did not support.

The version I've been using is this one:
http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/?tinycontent

What I liked the most about TinyContent most was that I could use the XOOPS css files to integrate the look even better with my themes. When I change themes, the static webpages change too. However, I wrote the html after the site was set up so I didn't have to retrofit pages into it which you seem to be attempting to do.

Best of luck!

I wanted to add several static html pages to my site and have them accessed via a XOOPS block menu. I ended up using TinyContent.

If I wanted, I could call these static pages using their "new" TinyContent url. I could add links from other places than the menu.

No recoding of my pages was necessary. And when I update the html pages, they are updated automatically in TinyContent since it's just reformatting to fit into Xoops.

There are a few different Content modules available. Each has slightly different options.

Since it sounds like this is an item that is likely to be changed in the next version....

I'd like to suggest that the date choice be a USER preference and not a coder/module/site preference. Let them set it in their preferences with a site default set by the webmaster for those that don't care. That way each user can see the date in their native format.

No, that isn't the conclusion I read.

Xoops WILL send mail out to a large number of people. But that number is finite and the devs need some solid data to determine where the bottlenecks are.

The number of mails sent varies based on the server's hardware/memory/CPU, the network connection for the server, the number of users being sent to and maybe other factors. If you have 25 users, you shouldn't have problems. Where *YOU* start having problems (or don't have problems since that is good info too) is what the devs need to know.
