Heh, I noticed that myself too when I installed PiCal. I found out the holidays are set in \modules\piCal\language\english\pical_vars.phtml (or whichever languange you choose).

So I edited it, removed the holidays that don't apply in NZ and added our local ones. Works fine after that

How do I make a php block to display one particular news story?

I was wondering if those in the knows could tell me if this is do-able?

Is it possible for me to create a PHP block to display the full news item of a particular news Topic?

Eg I want to make my front page display the latest news article (latest single article, not all unexpired articles) of a particular news topic.

I know that someone asked for this before (for a NZ school) but he was asking this based on the WF-Section module (not the news module).

I thought maybe the Topics Blocks Module (based on original code by Samuel Wright (http://www.lykoszine.co.uk) and edited for XOOPS 2.0.5 by Adam Hennessyhttp://www.dragster.com.au) could be hacked for that. It currently display the lastest <n> of news article headlines under a particular news topic. I'm sure it is just as easy to modify that to display the full news article instead of just the headlines.

I'm not much of a programmer. If you think this is do-able would you like to help me with this and release it back to the XOOPS community as another module?

Hi there

I wanted to place the XOOPS advert banners in the center center block but not at the top.

My home page (http://www.albanycc.org.nz) starts up on WF-Channel where I have a Welcome message. I want to place the advert banner below the welcome message.

I created a php block, using the following code, and set it Center Center block with weight of 100.

Quote:

echo xoops_getbanner();

But the banner goes to the top of the center-center block above my Welcome Message.

I've tried looking at the theme.html file but the way the blocks are arranged seem to be done in XOOPS not in the theme.html file.

I suppose the other method would be to get the php block command to load up wf-Channel's "http://www.albanycc.org.nz/modules/wfchannel/index.php?pagenum=1" where the welcome message is. Then I can set this php block to 0 and the advert banner to 100.

Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

Just so you know, I can access your site now (I couldn't about a hour ago).

23 Feb 2004 2100hrs + 1300hrs GMT Auckland, New Zealand.

Same IP address as my previous post.

Loading time was OK (considering I was streaming a radio station as well).

Hi there! Anyone else seen this problem before?

http://www.albanycc.org.nz/modules/wffaq/index.php?op=cat&c=1

No matter how many times I view the FAQ topic, the hit count remains zero.

Sound like your mySQL is not running, not restored or corrupted. Have you tried contacting your webhost to check on your database?
