Can someone please tell me if this is doable?

WFChannel has a way to select one of its page as the index and if I set WFchannel as the top page then that page becomes the home page (as is in my case right now).

However - the home URL become site.com\modules\wfchannel

I've recently seen people typing in the full URL as the website address (instead of typing in www.albanycc.org.nz, they type in www.albanycc.org.nz\modules\wfchannel)

Can't blame them, most are not IT literate users.

I've tried the short URL hack, both hacks didn't work. I've also tried doing some fancy things with htaccess modrewrite but that didn't work either.

So I am thinking the only way is to extract the channel page in a PHP Block and enable it in the top page which do not load any module as its default.

The record I am after is xoops_wfschannel's CID=1. The fields are index image, page title, page

I know the SQL statement will be

SELECT CID, indeximage, pagetitle, page
FROM wfschannel
WHERE CID=1

How do I get the result (in this case wfschannel.page to display in a php block?

I'm not much of a PHP programmer unfortunately, trying to get there though.

Thanks for any help.

I think this thread has gone beyond unconstructive to downright useless. Someone should lock this thread before the standard of this forum drop any further.

Oh gidday John, nice to see you dropping by at this forum.

I'm sure the few who made a few comments about some errors on your demo site do not really intend it to belittle your project.

I'm pretty sure I've read in one of the forum thread last year that it is generally a rule in the XOOPS forum not to nit-pick on other CMS bugs.

Anyway - you want to see what happen to XOOPS when we switch our php or smarty debug on?

To be honest, I left PostNuke after their infighting. I followed Xaraya for a while but lost interest because it was still in beta.

Furthermore I had lots of problems running PostNuke at my office - I couldn't get what I wanted so in the end I used a PERL CMS called Coranto. Coranto is stable and easy to use but do not have as many modules as XOOPS.

I then went searching for various CMS and finally settling for XOOPS because it is the easiest to install, the developers are the most friendliest of all the CMS forums I have visited, and nearly every modules I require are here (with the exception of IRM helpdesk).

So in simple terms, no - I don't think Xaraya will replace XOOPS. There is a simple rule I work by as an IT Manager - if it ain't broken don't apply the patch. If XOOPS is working for me I see no need to switch over. In fact I am so impressed with XOOPS that I am looking at replacing my company internet site with XOOPS (I'm currently using XOOPS as an intranet system).

Gee what planet are you from?

Oh let me guess.. Planet TROLL?

From what I can see the XOOPS developers are head and shoulder above any other CMS I have used before. In fact it is probably listed high in my Open Source project team list.

XOOPS is well designed, well organised and well runned.

If you are dis-enchanted I am sure there are more robust CMS that you could use like phpNuke etc.

I'm sure there are others who support my views.

Hello Kappen

Had a quick look at your process and it is slightly different to the way I've set it up on my site.

I'm at work at the moment with a mountain of work on my desk. I have typed up the instructions before but its all on my home PC.

If you don't mind waiting I'll see if I can dig it up and paste it here.

In the meantime try this.

In Admin Control Panel, place your mouse over the Formulaire icon. There should be a pop up window with three options in it.

- Form Managment
- Menu
- Preference

Click on Menu, and in the form you created, click on Edit (under Function).

You should have a screen that contain an option for Authorised Users.

Good luck.

I have succesfully installed Formulaire at my site. Though at the beginning I struck a few problem similar to yours. However, I uninstall Formulaire and reinstall it again (more carefully this time reading all the post-installation messages). And the second time I install it everything seem to drop into the right place and I have created a number of Forms at my site, all except one is designed for Anonymous users.

If you want to see a working version try my Webmaster form athttp://www.albanycc.org.nz/modules/wfchannel/index.php?pagenum=14.

Feel free to send me a few test messages (as long as you mark it as TEST).

If you search through the forum there were a few threads about this. Also, Philou (the Formulaire creator) visit this forum and as well.

Well I haven't seen too many GPL PHP based helpdesk that suit my needs. The closest I've found is IRM. Their website and demo is athttp://www.stackworks.net/view.php/irm/index.html

IRM is good because it gives me

1. Hardware Inventory
2. Network Devices Inventory
3. Software license inventory
4. Helpdesk tracking (linked to hardware) + email updates
5. Anonymous Helpdesk submission
6. FAQ
7. Knowledgebase

The current version is quite stable but it still need quite a bit of work before it comes up to commercial helpdesk standard.

I'm running this at the office, but not integrated into XOOPS. If I am a PHP guru I will probably spend all my time making it into a XOOPS module. It has a lot of potential.

Well that usually means there's an entry in that date. Either a pre-set holiday, an actual calendar entry or a calendar entry set-up as an 'All Day' bar.
