User Registration - not able to access

this is disturbing.

In my admin preference, the site is set to open for registration.

However, when I check to see if i can register by clicking on the "register" link on the main page. it says "Sorry you do not have permission to access this area. and the error keeps looping and looping till i close the window

How do I fix that?

Shoutbox is not set to UTF8

my mainfile.php and language/global.php are set to display UTF8 chinese characters.

but somehow. the shoutbox module which appear as a iframe in the site. does not display utf8 automatically. I had to manually set the frame to display UTF8 then it will work.

anyone know a fix or getting the same problem?

not that the template_c and the cache is no longer in use.

Where exactly do I clear the XOOPS site's cache?

which folder content can be cleared off?

the shoutbox module is not compatible with XOOPS 2.3

had to manually set it to UTF8 to display chinese characters.
everytime its refresh. I had to set it again. samething happen to IE and mozilla.

oh wait. test with IE and it works well.


why does it always happen to mozilla?

I checked and somehow it was set to 755 where it has been 777 previously,

Now i set it back to 777. but still I can't access some of the administrative area.
I am still able to delete posts in the forum though.

any other idea how to fix it?

This happens out of nowhere. I get lockout from my own site somehow.

I am the full admin and only admin in the site. I can see the administration option the userpanel. able to enter the admin page. but when i click on the admin menu / module menu options,

it prompt:

If the page does not automatically reload, please click here


I was sure that I didn't alter anything in the administrative menu.

Could this be a bug?

from my phpmyadmin,

its stated:

MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci


my previous mainfile.php has this:
define( 'XOOPS_DB_CHARSET', 'ISO-8859-1' );

I didn't see the options during upgrade. I ran into problems and got stucked in upgrade. so I had to manually entered the information into the mainfile.php to proceed with the upgrade.

How do I solve this issue?

After convert to XOOPS 2.3
all chinese text turns into gibberish.

What exactly does this do? Activate / Deactivate user account?

I deactivate a user account and he still manage to login. what is going on?
