this is a terrible shame.

Ive never understood the workings of the inner circle so I have nothing to say because when people get their feelings hurt or opinions not respected I can understand what results.

Never the less, this is the primary problem with xoops.
It builds up and then tears ITSELF down. I was really thinking wow..things have picked up again.. Myself, I'm still learning how to develop modules and such and I hope to contribute more in the future. (But there is more to an online community than a cool feature or two..that is what Im trying to understand with online communities)
Anyrate,
I fully believe in xoops.

I remember when I could not find answers here once, I went to xoopscube...and found them. IT was so strange to sse so many power houses of XOOPS at xoopscube. I still dont understand why...But I can repect it. And I think its great too.

I (and speaking for our team that volunteers on our portal)just think that its too easy to quit and walk away. My main occupation and passion is a collaborative art form. And, it too can be difficult, it truly takes a lot to work together, let your egos aside and work for the better common goal. It also involves undertanding others perpectives and not imposing ones own agenda on others.

true Teamwork is harder to come by these days.

Best wishes and thanks-
-But please reconsider-

My space is now owned by Fox...

any rate...

But I agree...
All myspaces' main feature is, is a super duper Myprofile type of module...

So why not just participate in the further development of that module and its integration into the rest of xoops?
Other features exist in various capacities and modules in xoops.Video, music, cgalleries, blogs, etc.

And XOOPS kix a!! dont even doubt it..just give in to it!
-

Developing successful online communities is hard as hell...there will never be a quick fix. I hope you look more into seeing what we all can do with xoops, Ive been tempted to try others but I always come back to xoops.

And myspace is nothing really to emulate for the future..next year it will be something else...and the year after that...and the year after that...

Wallst:Quote:
I really hope XOOPS stops looking and feeling so disjointed and patched, into a much more integrated and professional platform.

Also a lot of people get bothered by the way xoops's site "looks", this particular sites function isnt to impress you with appearance its -to function-.

I have seen many professional sites that you would have never guessed were powered by xoops..but it takes thinking outside the box ya know? Take a reall good luck at the the themes available for instance...

Either way best of luck to you and I hope others turn their focus to just increasing the power of our profiles modules..
(I think Ill start examining the different versions myself too.)

Bandit-X thank you.

Sometimes after looking at code for so long things blend to gether. The differeances were exactly as you pointed out upon second look.

So that wasnt a problem before our upgrade..
is this something new with regards to php5?

Thanks again bandit-x, this isnt the first time youve helped us out of a forum jam!

So then the date is fixed..those values are outputting correctly now.

The end result means there was only a slight differeance in the upgrade to mysql5 which appears to have been with auto-increment not being set right for some values.

And this (apparently) issue with the format structure being slightly different for php5 (stricter?) . At least thats what I surmise.

Still not sure where
YAmerica/DenverstAmerica/Denverrday
Came frome but it must have been in the way 'yesterday 'being outputted as you pointed out as well

Seems to be working now...
Thank you everyone for your assistance!

thanks bandit-x.

However, yes there is no differeance in our version of cbb than prior to upgrade of MySQL etc.

I double checked however,
The main file does contain all those variables.

Old posts have the corrrect date..

new/recent posts return with a value like:
Posted-
T2007day
4:33:19
username

Im more certain now that some sort of table/field mix up is the source of our problem now and trying to read up more on myql5...

-Thanks-

yeah...hmm it does seem to be from the databse.
There are many different options as to
Index type etc that mysql5 has that maybe its defaulting too..

But Why would it get the clock time right but not the date?

Perhaps it has to do with php5.1 and the way the date format is written in cbb,

BTW we useing cbb 1.16
For awhile it was the only version campatable with our set up. I supose that could also be part of the problem.

SO I dont have such folder framerworks...it was defined elsewhere in this version and I did check there too...
Maybe Ill revist that structure..however. With php 5 it may be different relationship with this version of cbb.

-thanks

uh oh...not out in the clear yet.

Looks like our date format is screwey...

it gets the time..the user id...but not the date apparently..

any thoughts where to begin on that?

we do have a new versions of php but I dont believe anything is set in there..
this looks like another sql port mess up..there are some confusing options as to 'type' in it I havent seen before and I think it defaults to them sometimes-

any suggestions?
thanks..

Ah yes I understand now. Thanks..

well we had so many people from our team working on it Im not exactly sure how it got working again! LOL.

But I do know adding null to the table structure as mentioned earlier helped. In addition I imagine that we did finally get a decent export of the posts and post_text data via phpmyadmin. Which Has an option to insert "auto increment" which I believe was helpful.

In total with the article (once we wrapped our heads around it) and the above mentioning of exploring the table structre issue it looks like it has been resolved.

Im still not certain how many modules this effects (the table structure differeance in MySQL 5) but so far its not as disasterous as I thought itd be. And we have several cloned or modified modules that seem to be working.
and most importanly..
The forum is operating..Whew!

Now I just gotta learn about the best way to optimize this new set up.

we are also really excited about modifying the metomorphosis default template combo for a new look and functionality (the blocks layout) for our site. Our main designer is reviewing it now for our relaunch!

will be in touch
Cheers

we've got 4 years of forum action.
So individual editing would be..well, ugly..

This is extremely frsterating....
there has got to be a way to convert this data.

Have tried heidisql and phpmyadmin..no luck so far..
--update
Well #OOPS# we are close, heres the error we get now:

-Error message: Field 'post_edit' doesn't have a default value-

not sure what value to give it...

changed
NULL= YES

it seemingly works now..
but I wont label this as fixed untli we debug some more..
Thanks all..

any other thoughts of course welcome and desired!

thats it.

The data from the old gets converted and there are 0's

This same data works in 3.23 which is where it came from but in the import of data to mysq5 it turns autoincrement to 0.
--
I think we understand the problem.

I just happen to be at a loss of how to fix it.

It must have been something in the table structure in creation..hmm
anyrate,

Appreciate your feedback its got us narrowing our focus..
thanks

svah.....
I think that may be it
so the exta field
if it has nothing in should be autoincrement?

Which table might this be?
what about the default..column?

the weird thing is...able to see and read posts but wehn trying to post get the "cannot insert" error
