I'm getting a blank page when I try to submit an article to xNews 1.68 RC1. here's the Debug message:

<snip>
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '[edited:Xooproot]/modules/tag/include/formtag.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib64/php:/usr/lib/php') in [edited:Xooproot/modules/xnews/include/storyform.inc.php on line 106
</snip>

I have no idea what half of that says, but I do know there is no "tag" module installed.

Equally quirky, if I go into xNews from the Modules Admin page and use the "post/edit articles" button, I get an un-themed, almost un-formatted screen with with the operation tabs, a "news configuration section (No articles because there aren't any yet) and a line that says "Post New Article" but no button. The debug message on this screen says,

<snip>
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home1/anarchit/public_html/creeksideatcedarpath/modules/tag/include/formtag.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib64/php:/usr/lib/php') in /home1/anarchit/public_html/creeksideatcedarpath/modules/xnews/include/storyform.original.php on line 100
</snip>

Alright... Here we go. Maybe.

In the few days I was banned, I had to re-evaluate myself and what I was doing on my HOA Project. The Board of Directors is growing impatient and I needed to reassess if Xoops was the best choice.

So, I have re-installed Xoops on my domain, and am ready to see how things work. Hopefully soon I will know if the same issue of having a blank top page will surface again.

As it stands right now I have the installation-default set of themes.

Let's see how well it works.

Edit:

Okay! Five minutes later, it's all happening again! www.creeksideatcedarpath.org is blank. Under General Settings the Default theme is default. In the Database it's set to default. Here's a list of ALL the modules I have installed:

System v2, Private Messages 1.03,
Protector 3.4, avaman 0.21,
xForum 4.13, Smart Object Framework 0.8,
XoopsPoll 1.3, extcal 2.22,
xpetitions 0.18, classifieds 2.2,
smartfaq 1.08, tdmpicture 1.05,
smartmail 0.8, DMS 1.91,
VJ Mixes 1.2(deactivated),
wf-downloads 3.2, Extended Profile v1.

I offer up this list wondering if there could be an issue with one of or a combination of these modules that is preventing a page from displaying. I'll wipe out the themes and re-install them one at a time and see where the top page vanishes.

Edit: Think I'm on to someting here. Stripped everything out leaving only System, Protector and extended profiles and the top page displays fine.

Edit: Reinstalled half of the modules back in, and all looks good so far. whipped together a Block for the Top page to make sure I know what doesn't display and what will.

I need to close this thread. THe original problem I had not being able to view admin.php was in the fact that there was no cookie on my system showing that i should be logged in, and since my top page was showing as a blank page there was no way to log in. I Utilized information in this thread to get in and replaced the Profile module with the Extended Profiles Module and that cured my issues with logging into the site as I need to.

The remaining issue is in the fact that In spite of what I set the Default Theme as, my top page tends to just, well, Dissappear. No THeme trimmings, no login block, just nothing. THere are times when I set the only usable theme to Default and that restires teh Top page, but not always. There are times when I add blocks to populate the top page and that breaks the page as well.

I'm going to continue this issue on this thread over here because with ExtendedProfiles this particular issue is resolved.

Thanks!

Hi Burning. I appreciate the help.

Here's what I've done:

• 1 : look into your database theme selected, note his name (example rastapopoulos)
It was 'default"
• 2 : delete all folders wich are into www/themes/
Okay, it's done. themes folder is now empty except for index.html
• 3 : upload into www/themes/ a new theme (this one)
Volga-light uploaded.
• 4 : rename www/themes/volga-light/ --> www/themes/rastapopoulos (it is the folder name set in your database)
Volga-light renamed to rastapopoulos) and I manually changed the theme_set in the database's _config table from default to rastapopoulos.
• 5 : clean Xoops cache : delate all files in xoops_data/caches/smarty_compile
All files except index.html deleted.

Should I be deleting the index.html files as well in these directories?

I have the theme files under the correct paths, and the huml files are present.

The url for my site is www.creeksideatdedarpath.org if you wantto see the blank screen.

Mboyden, in another thread told me about the database edit, and it worked for about 20 minutes. Now, the Defaut theme is Default and nothing's working again.

The troublemaking theme was 7dana-round and I have made no modifications to anything, save adding a themes block to the All Pages category in the Left side #4 position (Which I have since removed the block until I can get this figured out.)

New problem is it's happening again, with the default theme now. I was runing through the themes and suddenly the front end pages went blank again. The back end theme is Orange and seems to work fine as ling as my 'puter keeps the session cookie.

I went back into the Database and the theme is still set to default. I've since deleted ALL the themes 'cept default (again) but this is still out of control.

Is Xoops 2.4.4 allergic to 3 column themes? Shall I switch everything over to 2 column? is the default template broken somehow? Heck, I didn't look at the code in the default template without making a copy and looking at that just to make sure I didn't screw someting up.

Edit: Had a high fever last night. Came back and made some spelling corrections and replaced a "module" with "Block" in the first paragraph.

OKay, Im back in my site. Mboyden showed me how to change the theme in the database and I'm back up and running. Do you have any idea why teh Top page would go completely blank like that?
