My version is 3.08. Same version that is in the module downloads. Where do you get the latest version from?

I have created a test user if you want to see what is happening.

user: Testing
password: testing
Forum url: Member's Forums
allowed to create a topic in 'Mark's Forum' but not 'DHesketh forum'

problem:
Topic link not showing on topic page but showing when viewing the topic itself

Bit of an odd problem. I am running CBB forum with some member only forums. I was hoping to set these forums so that the member can act as a moderator and also be the only one to be able to start new topics. It works but the topic link isn't showing. I know it works as I used the 'new topic create link' when logged in as a member, the same member that I made a moderator for that particular forum. Also the list of permissions shows: 'You can start a new topic'. Is there a way to fix this?

I just noticed that if I create a topic (created by moderator) and the user clicks on the topic to view it the new topic icons appear. They just don't show on the topic listing page of the forum.

This module is quite an old one and is similar to others I have tried lately in that they don't communicate with the database fully. This particular one shows in admin but the main tables have not been inserted into the database. Even with manual insertion the module doesn't send any data. I don't think there is much wrong here really but the method of communicating with the database must be different from earlier xoops versions. Where would I start to try and fix this particular module? If I can fix this one I can probably fix others.

For anyone using this gallery, and infact any Coppermine user that has the same problem, then my solution might work for you too.

It seems that there hasn't been a solution to this problem for years but whether or not the latest version of Coppermine has this problem I am not sure as the demo isn't very clear on that point.

The problem is regarding the album and picture count ignoring the sub albums and the pictures that reside in them from appearing on the main category total. This can make a Gallery index page seem as if there aren't any pictures installed at all! Very disconcerting. My solution is far from ideal as I don't understand smarty code so I have had to use php code instead. The code is pretty straightforward though and isn't too confusing. My solution has been posted on my own forum here:

Coppermine Gallery Albums and Pictures Index Count! Part 1

Initally experimented with a xoops camera picture site. Trouble is I wasn't very interested in the subject matter which was the kiss of death really as far as developing the site on a regular basis was concerned; so I parked it! Anyways I have knocked up 2 more sites that still deal with pictures but on subject matters I AM interested in - Cars and Motorbikes.

The motorbike site is, or was, just a site for pictures initially but I have developed it a bit more now. The motor car site I have created in the last few days and is perhaps a bit more interesting. Reason being in that I have carried over the experience of tweaking certain modules on the motorbike site to the new site. Also I have added more modules and carried out some tweaking of the code on them too. For instance the Gallery categories and albums are being controlled by new htacess redirects to make the user experience a lot easier and viewing smoother (I hope!).

Of interest maybe is the use of javascript to show the same upper block on all the modules - bar for the Videos (different block used) - on the first page fof the module only. Once inside the module on a different page the upper block module is removed. I prefer the site this way as users do not have to scroll when viewing pictures - forum posts etc. You can see the code I have used if you right click and view source. I will be reducing the amount of code soon now that I have the sites more or less he way I want it.

Both the sites have links to onsite youtube video searches within the Gallery. These links are auto-populated with the picture name and can be seen when viewing a picture.

Both sites need work - which they will be receiving in the forthcoming weeks.

Sitemap Creation using urls only!
The Motorbike site has been populated with over 300 pictures and is already indexed with Google - I have created an url sitemap creator within the admin on both sites. Also when a new upload occurs in the Gallery the sitemap is updated and google is pinged each time. Google seems to like this system and has practically indexed all of the urls of the motorbike site already - 326 out of 350!

The sitemap creation process produces a sitemap with urls only such as this:
http://freemotorcyclepictures.co.uk/modules/xcgal/displayimage.php?pid=15

http://freemotorcyclepictures.co.uk/modules/xcgal/displayimage.php?pid=16

http://freemotorcyclepictures.co.uk/modules/xcgal/displayimage.php?pid=17

The creation of the sitemap is extremely fast with no pressure put on the server each time.

Anyways the sites are these:

uk4wheelers.co.uk
(will be populated with loads of pictures soon!

and

freemotorcyclepictures.co.uk
will evertually be an identical site to uk4wheelers in looks and modules usage.

Both sites are running on a low powered home server with Ubuntu Server as the choice of server software. I have also created a new site for my experiences with Ubuntu as I have just bought a Dell Poweredge 2650 dual processor rack server to experiment on. I have yet to find time to carry out any work on the site yet though - soon...

Regards

I was mistaken. The forum link was there all the time but only on the PD Download 'Full Details' page - oops!

Hi

There is an option when adding a new file for download into PD Downloads which should auto post a link into any chosen forum: "Add Discuss in this Forum?" This option isn't working though on my site. I have checked and double checked settings and permissions on both PD Downloads and CBB Forum haven't been able to resolve the issue. Where should I look for the solution to this?

I have found out where the problem was. This code was missing from my theme:

<{$xoops_module_header}>

My private messaging wasn't working which looked like it was missing some javascript so I decided to check the default theme header section. I then compared it to my choice of theme. It was missing the above. After adding the code everything works great. I have now made my xoops cache writable again and registration is working with captcha. Captcha wasn't showing before. Hopefully now my site will run as it is supposed to.
