Re: XOOPS Newsletter Mailer

Well, I have been playing around with Smartmail quite a bit. Learned I could do pre-formatted newsletters via one custom block, and so forth. It would appear now all I need is the ability to email all registered users that opted to recieve mail. Great job though.

I was thinking override email vs pm prefs or (gasp) overriding "don't send me anything, ever"

I can't see getting rid of inactive members as a priority for SmartMail though. The purpose is to communicate current info with current members.

Not sure why you'd use it the contact the deadwood. xMail might be easier for that or built in XOOPS mail.

Just a thought.

I think what you are saying is that you want a way to have a SmartMail newsletter list dispatch to all your registered users who have selected "Receive occasional email notices from admin/moderators" in their preferences. Correct?

Think through the rest of the operation details you'd like to see - for example: Would you also want the ability to override user preferences?

Correct, that is what I would like to see. Other than that, I really cannot think of anything else offhand. That is the only feature Smartmail is lacking that I really need, though an ability to override user preferences might come in useful in getting rid of inactive members.

Re: How can I change the names of the userinfo fields

In the admin section, goto Modules Admin: Extended Profiles: Fields, and you will see you can edit them from there.

Re: XOOPS Newsletter Mailer

I have already posted on this at Smart Factory. I am very impressed with SmartMail, and it fits nearly all my needs. However, I was hoping for the ability to send a newsletter to all users that have opted to send mail. Are there any plans to suppor t this, or be able to import users that have opted to recieve emails?

Default Editor for Mail Users

Is there a simple way to change the default editor for "Mail Users?" I would like to be able to send formatted emails using this function, but this would require changing from the default editor to something like tiny editor or any of the others that can handle html.

Re: What is a competent Downloads module?

No it does not allow for user submit, which is partly why I use it. Not sure then what module would be best for you then!
