CSS transparency and HTML background image?!

Hi, I'm trying to make a cell with a background image and a CSS menu (multimenu) but I'm having some difficulty.

What I've done so far is resize the CSS menu to fit the cell and set it's background colour to 'transparent'. This appears to work and makes the menu background transparent.

The final stage is to set the background image of the cell to a certain image - this I've done, but when the CSS menu is in the cell, it doesn't appear?

Does anyone know how I can achieve this effect?

You can see the menu at www.cgenie.net

The block code is:

<td colspan="2" background="{$xoops_url}/themes/{$xoops_theme}/images/menubar_05.jpg"><{foreach item=block from=$xoops_lblocks}>
<{if $block.title == "navbar"}>
<{$block.content}>
<{/if}>
<{/foreach}></td>

This should work shouldn't it? I dunno if I've missed something obvious!?

Hi guys,

thanks for all the advice!

Quest: I'm not sure what you mean about the sum of the graphics being 1500+ pixels wide - I've specifically set the graphics to be 966px in total - so the html is:

<table width="966" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="bg">
<tr><td width="255"><img src="<{$xoops_url}>/themes/<{$xoops_theme}>/images/menubar_01.jpg" width="255" height="104" /></td>
<td width="642"><img src="<{$xoops_url}>/banners/banner.jpg" width="642" height="104" /></td>
<td width="69"><img src="<{$xoops_url}>/themes/<{$xoops_theme}>/images/menubar_03.jpg" width="69" height="104" /></td>
</tr>

I've taken the px out of theses (as you can see, but it doesn't appear to affect the rendering of the page...?

XUser: yeah I reckon that'd work if I could set the outer table to be another css class or something - how would I do this though - the css is specifying table = 100% so that'll affect all tables - I'm very new to css so I'm not sure how I can specify only a specific table.

maybe if I put class=outertable and then made an outertable bit in the css?! I'm just making this up really so any tips would be most appreciated!

hmm hi guys, thanks for the suggestions - I've tried all your ideas, but it's still not making a difference.

There's a CSS % that I can't seem to change:

table {
width: 100%;
margin: 5;
padding: 5;

font-size: small
}

If I set this to 966px, then all the tables are that width - so I don't think that's gonna work.

Apart from that, it's the only width % left in the CSS - so how's it stretching to fullscreen!?!

Hi - I'm trying to change a theme from a variable width one to a fixed width (966 wide).

I've swapped all the % references that were in the css and the theme, however it is for some reason still stretching to the full screen size?!

Can anyone figure out what's happening?

The site is - www.cgenie.net

Many thanks!

this looks incredible bandit-x! How close do you think it is to being released?! If you need any help testing etc etc - I'm more than happy to help - this'll be a superb little module soon!

Hi Wizanda - yeah I've fixed that now - it's just the bugging CSS that is messing up - you can see what a mess it is on www.cgenie.net

I'm trying to think why CSS would mess up and the other menus wouldn't...

I've basically got a choice of Javascript menu that appears much lower when moused over in IE6

or

A CSS menu that would look cool if I could get the #OOPS# thing working and would appear the same in IE6 and others... I hope...

hmm I solved the right-click by changing one of the context2 settings in a totally different menu!? Hmm, well it's fixed now anyway!

Now if I can just figure out why IE6 doesn't display it properly I'll be a happy chappy indeed...

Basically I've got it to the stage where if I set my menu to dropdown horizontal it appear perfectly in all browsers - if I set it to horizontal CSS - it messes up in both browsers!

I've left the site at the 'messed up stage' can anyone see any reason why it'd shove everything over the right if I have a css menu?

I much prefer the look of the CSS menu - so if it's possible, then I'd vastly prefer that - but it appears to be more hassle than it's worth!

Hi Solo -

1) I can't see any 'contextual menu' in the block settings - the only thing related or similar in either your help files or from looking through all the options is the block formate settings 'context ' and 'context2' - my menu isn't set to these anyway - it's dropdown horizontal... I must be missing some block setting option somewhere?!!? Does anyone know where this 'contextual menu' can be found?

2) I've got dropdown horizontal activated at the moment, but to be honest I'll be happy with any horizontal menu that works! I'll have another dig into the block code for that menu...

yeah this is a brilliant little module and it was supposed to be getting developed further, but nothing appears to have happened - I'd love to be able to easily scale up/down the number of news sections... ;(

Maybe Smartfactory will take it over! ;) They'll be taking over the core too soon!
