we just set up a sub-domain for our site. what i am looking to do is, when a vistor comes to our site, they see an intro page. from there they have the choose to enter the main site or the sub domain.

i downloaded EasyWeb module, to help. but what happens is, it displays in the main menu whichi don't want. but also, it displays the images i put in, on our main page.

our site ishttp://187platoon.clanservers.com
in html this is easy. i've done it lots of times. but with XOOPS it's different.

i have a flash movie intro i am working on, and this is the first thing i want people to see when they show up.

how can i accomplish this? i love xoops, but sometimes it gives me such a headache :)

thank you.

I can rewrite you whole theme and it will look same in FF and IE if you are ready to pay a little.

I could, but then i wouldn't know what to do in the future to prevent it from happening again.

I use hex code when doing colors. But even the width of the tables is off, which isn't CSS. For example, if you view the site in it's original state, in FF, the top right column text fits the width of the table, where as in IE6 it doesn't. Nothing special about the text, just typed into the block and saved it.

Would it be safe to say that when making blocks, always use full html in them? IE: making tables at 100% width, etc?

The guy really liked the look of the new layout, from FF.. but if IE isn't going to read the css properly, i don't know what else to do.

I have a major issue going on. It seems that Fire Fox display my site the way it supposed to be displayed. However, IE6 won't. The colors are messed up, the tables are off, i am not sure whats happening.

This is the second site i built with xoops. The first one, my gaming group... 187platoon.clanservers.com looks great in both IE6 and FF. However here are two screen shots of my current project. I can't find out what is causing the major difference in display. IE6 is supposed to display it like FF is, but it's not.

Fire Fox View

IE6 View

Both of these are reading from the exact same files, so why won't IE6 change the background color to the off grey like it's supposed to, and why wontit fill in the right side like FF does?

I'm in dyer need, anyone have any idea's? So until i can figure this out, i changes the sites colors back to the original.

Thank you in advanced.

I think this may have helped caused the issue but i'm not sure...
Yesterday i tried to log into my site at work during lunch to check my messages. The entire database was gone. The server must have crashed or somthing. Because i couldn't even log into the control panel. Once i got home last night, the databse was back, but it was totally corrupted. I did find a way to import the back up i made last week. However, everything posted since then is missing. Not a big deal, at leat i don't have to do it all over again.

Here is my next question. Is there a way to have XOOPS do a scheduled back up of the database? Say like every wensday at midnight, this way, thursday morning i could log in and download it?

Thank you.

Hi. First off, if this sin't the right forum, please move this post?

For awhile now, i have been going over XOOPS in the site created for my on-line game community. Everyone loves the site and we have had no issues until recently.

It seem's that everytime one of the admins or myself try to add content to the site, whether it's a block or a module, we have to log into the admin panel and re-install that specific module for the content to be updated. We have never had to do this before. I'm not sure what is causing this issue. I doubled checked the server from our host and they state that the server is XOOPS compatible.

We have even had some difficulties with some modules giving us errors after trying to add content. And all it says is Database Error. I did a search for database errors and didn't find anything. Anyone have a clue as to why we have to keep reinstalling/updating the database everytime we add content?

I am also wondering if this is the reason why the "remember me" doesn't work. I downloaded the files for the version i'm running, everything seemed to work great. But it doesn't remember you from your last login in. And now i can't remember where i downloaded it from to go check the forums there.

Is this all user error? or is there something else wrong? You can look at the site here:
www.187platoon.clanservers.com

Thanks in advanced.

A friend turned me onto XOOPS for content mangement sites. I love this software!!!!
I was redesigning a site for my clan for America's Army. I found a few templates that almost fit what we wanted, but i ended up modifying a template to get the look we have now.

Anyway, The question i have is about the forums. I searched the forums here and didn't seem to come up with an answer. When you log into the forums tor ead the posts, they are always displaying as threaded format. is there anyway to keep them displayed as the flat format? i went looking through the forum files and wasn't quite sure what to edit to do this.

anyway, here is my first XOOPS site. and i'm sure only one of may to come.
