This makes perfect since.. I figured that the upgrade process from the admin menu would perform all that needed to be done.

I hope that anyone that needs to upgrade finds this helpful before they do the upgrade.

I am looking for a downloading module that has easy uploading capabilities. I have tried downloads and downloads+ and both use a url for the uploads. I need something that will allow a browse button for uploading files from the local computer. I like the way that newsB 2.02 does it, though I am having a problem with it uploading when running on my local windows xp server.

Anyway is there a module for downloads that will allow easy uploading from the local computer as well as linking with files that already exist and have the capability of thumbnails.

BTW I also need security for my custom groups included and the ability to set the group access at upload time.

I am so close to having this site done..

This information may need to be changed.

I ran the upgrade from the admin menu like the doc I was reading said. The upgrade did not give any errors but the topics were all gone. Also, on one of the installations I have it said that I couldn't add topics for some reason. I cannot remember the exact reason, I thought I did something wrong. When I tried it on another installation, yes I am setting up 3 sites at the same time, I did not even try to add topics.

This problem does not affect me because my site is new and I don't have anything in the forum but this may affect someone else.

I upgraded from the standard from xoopx 2.0.9.2 to the newsbb 2.02. The upgrade said it was done properly but when I tried to access the forums all my topics were missing. I then went and uninstalled it and it gave me errors and left some of the tables in the db. When I remove the tables and reinstall everything work great but the upgrading didn't work.

If anyone has a solution to this others may be interested in it.

Ok.. Thanks for the information. I am looking at it now. Is there documentation on how to use it?

Previous message removed because I was in the wrong forum.

Mikhail,

I see that xftrove is included in your package list. I am interested in this package. I am working on an internal site for developers and need something like it. Is the xftrove module available somewhere or is there something like it that you can direct me to.

Thanks

I am a new member to the XOOPS community and would like to introduce myself.

I am a software architect and developer usually working on very large custom applications written in Java. I have recently been tasked with creating an internal site for the company I currently work for and didn't have the time to do it all from scratch. So I started checking out CMS systems. I looked at a few of the systems I found to be considered good. I quickly narrowed the field down to XOOPS and Mambo and found XOOPS to be more what I was looking for.

I joined the community about a week ago and have found this community to be more helpful than any other I have found, I especially like the quality help I have found from the forum.

I am planning on writing some modules for my sites as well as eventually helping with the overall XOOPS in what ever way I can. Through the forum, fixes and possibly core functionality if the opportunity arises.

I would like to thank everyone in the community for their contributions to this project up to now I think that you all have done a good job and have provided a lot to the community.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the community.

I must say that you have some nice code. I found the line that turned on the debugging and decided to take a look at the code in some of the core files and found them to be fairly clean and commented, with some minor exceptions. I will say that I am looking forward to doing some work on this project.

This is off topic but are there any good dev docs that explains the architecture, file layout and possibly a tutorial for modules. I found a document for the functions but have not found it to be very useful.

I have noticed after looking over the projects in the dev.xoops.org site that the odule projects section is using a module called xftrove. I am developing an internal site for project information tracking of documents and information for developers and customers alike and this seems like what I have been looking for. Is xftrove a module that is available somewhere and if not is there a module like it I can try out for my internal site.
