hi folks,

i am currently trying to install 2.1.1 in my PC for testing. I successfully went thru all the step during installation until i get to "Saving configuration data" everything turns green except two lines. These are the failures:

File ../mainfile.php overwritten by ../mainfile.dist.php.

Constant XOOPS_ROOT_PATH written to c:/web/html.

Constant XOOPS_URL written to http://localhost/html.

Constant XOOPS_DB_TYPE written to mysql.

Constant XOOPS_DB_PREFIX written to 8trpZ.

Constant XOOPS_DB_HOST written to localhost.

Constant XOOPS_DB_USER written to admin.

Constant XOOPS_DB_PASS written to xxxxx.

Constant XOOPS_DB_NAME written to xxxxx.

Failed writing constant 0.
 Constant XOOPS_GROUP_ADMIN written to 1.
 Constant XOOPS_GROUP_USERS written to 2.
 Constant XOOPS_GROUP_ANONYMOUS written to 3.
 Failed writing constant 1.

I tried installing an older verion of XOOPS everything goes well until I get to end of the installation (ceck database) aand I get "Could not connect to the database server".

I tried testing MySQL and php and it works fine I can't seem to figure it out. I am running these versions on my PC:

Apache 2.0.50
mySQL Control Center 0.9.4
php-4.3.9-Win32
MySQL 4.0.15

I hope someone out there could help me figure why this is happening? Should I reintall something? Any suggestion will help me. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for the tip m8! I found out that my editor was the cause of the problem. When I used dreamweaver the problem didn't persist. Thanks for all the replies.

i don't understand why this error shows up. i even checked the actual source code but i can't find it there. i notice that when i make simple changes to the theme.html this error will pop-up. i'm modifying a theme by 7dana btw. 7dana-soft.

Hello folks,

I hope someone can help me figure this out. I installed World Time in my test website on my computer. It worked perfectly. All I changed was index.php. that read "Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei" to "Manila" since that is my time zone. When I uploaded the module to my web server the time is not reading correctly.

I tried experiementing with the servers time. Changing it from various time zones to see if that changes the World Time but that doesn't seem to help. How do I fix this? Is there an enternal code that I have to fix? Thanks!

Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34

I just recently got this error when I did a freash install of version 2.0.9.2. I couldn't connect to my database. It was an error in my part for not filling in the correct information during installation.

I went to this topic forumhttps://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=8208&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=0 but I couldn't understand the technical mambo jumbo.

Here is what I did when I installed XOOPS in my web server.
1. I did was overwrite and upload all the .php files back to the server.

2. Went to MySql and made my database and added a user.

database: website
user: master

3. Ran the install wizard. When I got to the page where I had to fill in my info this is what i filled in.

NOTE: When I made my database I notice that my username for logging into my cpanel was included when i made a new database and username. EX. username is "ffff" make sure to include the ffff with your database and user.

Example:
Database: MySQL
Database: Hostname localhost
Database: Username ffff_master
Database Password: whatever
Database Name: ffff_website
Table Prefix: whatever
Use persistent connection? No
XOOPS Physical Path /xxxx/ffff/public_html/xxxx
XOOPS Virtual Path (URL)http://www.domain.com/xxx

After doing this I was able to connect to the database and complete the install.
